  1. Corper...to start...using Arma 2 program for the game - not using any other programs and this one has a lobby as well (same as Dayz Commander with the exception that you cannot favorite anything)

     

    Now as for getting an IP...Id gladly get one if you could...but in the lobby you can only click onto the server - if they provide it in the description or in the loading menu - hopefully you can jot it down quick enough before the game starts, otherwise there is no IP address to manually enter if you cannot see one.

     

    Joel...I know Dayz Commander as I used it many months back when I was using an HFB server at the time....now it does not work properly as all I get are the wonderful 10,000 ping anytime I click on any server on the Commander listing - so I do not bother to use that program at all.

     

    My biggest issue still is the original problem....Arma 2 making my router stop working....the program itself crashes too much for my taste - I think steam has something wonky with it now....the original stuff I played never crashed this much.

  2. Has anyone else gotten this:

     

    You run the game go to the lobby area (where the confused mess of game servers is located - without any rhyme/reasons - where you cannot select servers to keep coming back to them since there is no favorite or similar way of identifying through the mess of servers...and you hope the server has some unique identifying name)

     

    You try to log into the server...say it kicks you because of whatever (I do not even know half the codes and normally its something I am missing in files etc for that server)....then you are back in lobby and you see nothing...refresh the list and nothing....you back out and restart the Arma and nothing...then you totally go back to desktop and find your internet connection has been borked and now you cannot connect even to google.  So you have to reset your router because Arma somehow screwed it up and it stopped working.

     

    Have seen this now over 5 days and about 10-11 times...each time I have had to restart the router and all works fine but why is Arma causing my router to stop working...its only from this one game that this issue occurs so its not a standard issue at all...

     

    Anyone else experience this or know why this keeps happening?

     

     

    Also, anyone know a good way to figure out how to return to a server that may be identical in naming convention to about 40 other servers....there is no way to tag the servers from the lobby and the filter in the arma lobby is about as useful as a fart in church.

Any chance of removing the timers on building objects?  Why is there a timer?  Are we doing Marathon Building?  Speed Building?  Why even have timers?  Its just an added frustration factor with no benefit at all.  If you want to cancel, you move.  So why keep it?  At least with its removal you no longer have to deal with the annoying fact if you are trying to fine tune the shitty mechanics of placement you no longer have to worry about the timer as well.

  4. Well tried your program there...was getting quite excited when I saw it packed/unpacked/extracted etc....but the end result so far is the same....

     

    I uploaded the "edited" file and my game will not let me log in.....its further along than any of the other ones though....I get as far as the Dayz Epoch loading screen with the load bar empty....whereas before I would only get to the Waiting for Host message.

     

    I just wish I knew what the fak is causing the inability to get scripts edited/added and get them to work with HFB.

  5. CBPO does absolutely nothing for me....well other than turn the Icons into something different looking....Use Window Explorer....yeah right...the DOS command prompt area does not work...have not been able to do anything with that program at all....

     

    BinPBO does not work properly - or if it does...all my packed PBOs always have the same error with content 

    PBO Manager v1.4 Beta does not work other than opening PBOs

     

    I just want to be able to download my file (Chernarus Epoch 11 map) - extract the file and edit content - Pack it up and upload it back to my HFB server and get it to run.  I am not asking much....but so far nothing has worked and its annoying the hell out of me...cannot do any changes to my server that is not already in HFB control panel or that they have added into their Ultimate package.

Its the glitches or the weird pathing....I still get them....and last night I had the misfortune to go afk while I was standing behind my double heavy barrier and one glitched through it and killed me - I got back from bathroom break and found that all too familiar YOU ARE DEAD message awaiting me.....now I lost all my access to my base in order to disassemble my stuff - its so frustrating...wish the base stuff was keyed to my character so even after death I had ownership and could still add/remove....because I am now getting those stupid You have too many objects within 30m messages at my base and since I cannot get any scripts to work with editors I am screwed.

  7. Don't forget other games of the same genre as Dayz that have been recently released. Nether and State of Decay (both recently released for PC) are direct competitors, even though State of Decay is non multiplayer at the moment.

     

    Personally I would find it hard to believe anyone wanting to play State of Decay very much....its ok but its a quick finish game (roughly 1 day's worth of playing or less and you can finish the game) - and much of its mechanics are quite annoying - the npcs especially with their whining selves.  Its a good quick game and then go find something else...because its re-playability is really low in my opinion - if they added full crafting and such...ability to go beyond the current map, etc - then perhaps yes.  I played it and finished the full game under a day worth of time and then tried to increase the time with it and just got bored with the same crap over and over...but that is true with so much out there....needs content and its tough to add content when the player can finish the full amount in such a fast timeframe.

    Had to share this one tidbit I just found out about the particles this morning while I was logged in doing some airport maintenance work - first time I had a nice clear (well almost clear) night sky...with the few clouds meandering easterly and I started to notice something odd....very odd....the fartballs...cant really call them dustballs...were going in almost the opposite direction of the clouds....so I paid attention to this for awhile...while I was bagging sandbag barriers around the airport....and sure enough...the dustfarts are heading almost 180 degrees in the wrong direction....talk about immersion failure!

    Useful...NO not in Chernarus....Falujah, Takistan, any Middle Eastern Shantymap yes.....Russia inland woodland NO...

     

    We are not in the desert here....we are in Chernarus which is hardly as dusty as it shows now....including when a helo takes off....way too much dustclouds and this is especially while it is raining when dust would not be thrown around like it would if I was standing in middle of the Sahara Desert or taking off in the Sahara.  Now when we had our occassional rains in Saudi and we had helo take offs...yes, I could still see the huge amounts of dust/sand...but its a desert...and the rainfall was so little it would not matter since the ground would suck that up so fast it would make your head spin.

  10. Actually they do.  Having placed heavy barriers on row 1 with an opening for the garage door cement (barriers cover the cinder sides of the door) - second row is a low cinder wall both left/right of the garage doorway.  The entire area has metal flooring as well that covers the second row pretty well.  The zombies normally when aggroed by me, run and zigzag around and stop at the barriers....but when I am not aggroing them and they are pathing, they at times glitch between the barrier/cinderwall area by the corner of the garage door and move through and stand on my metal plating afterwards - now inside my perimeter.  If I walk up to them they will attack me once in hand to hand range otherwise they normally just stand around and let me headshot them from a distance, but they can still get through a double layer of walls with metal flooring.  I can provide a screenshot when I am home to show the area they will glitch through.

  11. Although I posted something regarding this on maintenance, to offset lag and such with multiple objects....have a new system for player built objects:

     

     

    Preconfig base building blueprint

    Have like X amount of options....various types....standard square, standard square with windows on certain walls, etc.

     

    Blueprint is placed on ground where you can manipulate the building to place it the way you want, perhaps with a snap on system for additional stuff later when you add another level on top for instance - materials added and can be built piecemeal (up to % until missing pieces are included) or can not be built until all pieces are placed into the blueprint at which time it allows construction and takes X amount of time (something large - 5 or 10 mins or so).  So watch out and keep safe.

     

    But this would:

     

    1) Decrease objects (turns a base into unit objects - 1st floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor - these are whole units with objects placed in them separate - so 1st floor is considered 1 unit and the shed inside is another unit....stairs perhaps a third...so you have to maintain those all...but not every frigging wall, floor, ceiling.  If attacked, its now against the whole which is much harder to blow up....once it does....then the entire floor is gone....and should collapse if its 1st floor of a 3 floor building (I do not know how that works currently if you shoot out support area 1st floor on a 3 floor building) - most likely becomes a floating building.

     

    I would also want cinderwalls to have window upgrades, large garage doorways (perhaps 2" clearances above & 2" clearances on the sides of the tallest vehicles to pass the doorway - no more issues).  

     

    Huge Flooring Plates...again could fall into the blueprint category...

     

    Wood/Metal/Brick Floor Blueprint (Number is the plates used)

    Square1: 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, 7x7, 8x8, 9x9, 10x10 (Special Sizes if allowed: 15x15, 20x20, 25x25, 30x30, 40x40, 50x50)

    Rectangle1: 2x3, 2x4,2x5,2x6,2x7,2x8,2x9,2x10

    Rectangle 2: 3x4, 3x5, 3x6, 3x7, 3x8, 3x9, 3x10

    Rectangle 3: 4x5, 4x6, 4x7, 4x8, 4x9, 4x10

    Rectangle 4: 5x6, 5x7, 5x8, 5x9, 5x10

    Rectangle 5: 6x7, 6x8, 6x9, 6x10

    Rectangle 6: 7x8, 7x9, 7x10

    Rectangle 7, 8x9, 8x10

    Rectangle 8: 9x10

    Then same for the Walls (Wood/Metal/Brick) - fits whatever the size it was

     

    Reduces the objects to 1 (of whatever above size) - this method would give you 3 obj: Floor, Wall, Ceiling + whatever added inside later or you can simplify it more by putting the floor/wall together into a unit with ability to add ceiling as well (have pre-configed area where stairs would be...allow a few choices of placement of them so they are not total cookie cutter single plan) then this would be a fully single object that includes floor, wall, ceiling and stairs together into 1 unit - adding additional items would of course add to the object count later on including if walls are upgraded with windows...unless we do options for window upgrade choices as well....then its back to a single object with floor, wall, windows, ceiling, stairs.

     

     

     

    Custom Shapes = L shape, U shape, E shape, player defined shape, etc.

     

    Can still allow modification to allow windows/doors....perhaps making these separate maintenance items then as well. Plus keeps those objects separate for destruction purposes - can kill the door without having to kill the entire wall unit surrounding that floor level, etc.

     

     

    Additional stuff for buildings/items in Epoch:

     

    Covering for walls....no more DIY looking crap...make it look nice (wooden wall paneling or siding....or brick walls having siding or covering) - allow customized paint job - add more trader items: House Paint, Vehicle Paint, Airplane Paint, Helo Paint, Ship Paint, Military Camo Paint, Wood Paneling, Metal Paneling - Have some options on types of paneling...10 color/texture choices) - Paint...normal color schemes, camo (Desert/Woodland/Urban/Naval).

     

    Civilian/military furniture - 5 choices of chairs, tables, beds, couches, wardrobe for starters...nothing big or fancy...just basic furniture that the character can interact with if possible or if not at least to make it look more homey :)

     

    Indoor stoves/fireplaces - utilize for cooking only - does not allow smelting of ores

    Fire Pit - allows for cooking/smelting of ores

    Freezer Unit (requires generator) - Food storage only

    Refrigerator (requires generator) - Food/Drink/Medicine storage only

    Dehydrator (requires generator) - Convert raw foods/vegetables into Dried Food Goods (meats into Jerky, fruits/veggies into Dried trail rations)

    Desalination Unit (requires generator) - Converts ocean water into drinkable water  (Rare unit - Very expensive - requires maintenance

    Electrified Fence (requires generator) - converts a fully enclosed area with fence and electrifies the whole - kills zombies and stuns players touching the fence while it is online - requires large amounts of fuel for generator - maintenance is required 

     

    Indoor Lighting (requires generator/lightbulbs) - Ceiling lamps, Table lamps, Floor lamps, Garage lamps

    Outdoor Flood Lights (requires generator/lightbulbs) - place on walls  (same with IR movement tracker) - turns on when movement detected

     

    Just some random thoughts on this.  Mayb doable maybe not...

     

    Personally I would love to see players have the ability to build a new house from ground up....that is a single unit (albeit the door/window and anything inside being separate or if not single unit perhaps 3 units - floor, wall, ceiling plus whatever window/door/inside.  Would be nice to be able to paint it as well and choose a variety of colors/patterns/textures, roof designs (local region) and the same for various larger buildings (office style or perhaps a military style HQ or troop barracks or forward base, etc).

  12. Is there anyway in this game to create a...how would you say it?  Single design....What I am trying to say is:  You build a floor with 4 walls and roof....now it is considered 1 item....instead of 6 separate items as it is now....so you can maintain 1 item (the completed house/building) rather than maintaining all separate pieces?

     

    Would be good to make like blueprints....you place the "blueprint on the ground" then add all the required pieces and in the end, it will use a large timer for construction but you will build the entire building (if you have all the pieces) or it will just keep adding and adjusting the timer for completion until it receives the final piece when it can actually complete the process.

  13. Before on 1.0.2.4 I never noticed this "sand" before...but now I see it constantly....even during rain...which makes no sense since the ground is wet and would never cause dust to spring up unless I was sitting in a desert which I am not.  

     

    Would be nice to just be able to get rid of it...ground fog would be nice if there was any actually....in the morning hours - up to your knee perhaps....but nothing like that in game.

     

    Helo dusting....think its a tad overdone again....now if I was in Baghdad or some other Muslim shantytown then it would be appropriate as they have primarily sand everywhere and it would be appropriate to see so much dusting for a Helo....to see it like that in a grassland field would be ridiculous and again especially so if its raining.  I have had plenty of first hand experience with UH1H, UH60 and MI-8 helos to not see the results the same as in game.

    I have been trying to get scripts loaded into my server to spice up anything...but so far - no go.  Also too much terminology in the discussions are over my head at times...not knowing exactly what something means or where to place/find it...

     

     

    There is a Dayz Epoch new map for Chernarus (17) which gives trader cities walls and such....

     

    To follow the instructions:

    Get the file..so I go to my HFB control panel in the File Manager and download the map file of Chernarus 11 (which I am guessing is what everyone calls an instance - which means totally nothing to me as instances are something where dedicated  groups play together in a game....like WOW...instance dungeons etc) - not the whole game is the instance.

     

    So after downloading the map file....I use PBO Manager 1.4beta and open the pbo file I downloaded.

     

    I get the option in PBO manager now to expand the file...seeing other stuff inside....so I want to extract this file into a folder...so right click it and extract into the same named folder on desktop.

     

    I can now open up any of the files in the folder...manipulate whatever scripts to change what is needed.....

     

     

    After the changes, I have that folder ready for packing again...PBO manager does NOT pack at all for me.  I have no option to do so from the program.  On right clicking the folder, I see an option Pack PBO but when clicked it errors out saying Application not found - so PBO does not work properly at all...even after a second install of the program...

     

    So I have another packing program....BinPBO and I pack the folder with this program from ArmaII....it then gives me the PBO file and a TXT file.  I look at the TXT file and see it contains a crapload of errors and the PBO file appears to be complete.  

     

    I upload the PBO file to my server and place it where the original file was (having renamed my original 11 map to 11a to be sure I still have it).

     

    Once done I restart my server and try to log in but I never can get logged into the game as it will sit on Waiting for Host forever.

     

     

    I want to know what is up with PBO manager that I cannot pack with it as well?  Is BinBPO not working properly either?  I can put the errors/omissions from the error report of the TXT file here as well to show folks what comes up missing, but I am clueless on what is happening and how to fix it.

     

     

     

     

  15. Out of curiosity...how exactly do you do the maintenance?  You click any random wall/floor and maintain (for the entire building)?  Or is it every frigging single piece of material you created?  Because that would drive me nuts to have such an inefficient method to maintain....

At my airport base, I have heavy barriers (1 line) and cinderblock behind that with a garage door....the zed pathing allows them still to walk into the heavy barrier and through the cinderblock wall and they then tend to stand around....since they are also on a metal flooring...had that happen with 2 zeds yesterday...when aggroed they stay outside but once the aggro is off...the pathing takes over and allows them to walk through the area....I have seen this in multiple places....am now trying double heavy barrier with cinderblock walls beyond the barriers - (although there is a small path open around the building after the barriers and before the cinder walls to the building itself) at my fueling station/garage complex, but so far they tend to stand just outside the garage doors and move around a bit once aggro is off.  I do not have the double barrier around the full facility yet so I will have to update afterwards...

    Anyone able to guide me a bit...since I am very new to all this :)

     

    What specific files would you suggest backing up frequently for ensuring server has little to no issues?  Right now it is not a big deal since its an invite only...but to ensure little is lost what files and are there automatic methods of doing this via server hosting?  I use HFBserver myself currently...but have not seen anything regarding backup of files for it.  Perhaps a batch file or something similar or even if I have to do it manually.

Interesting stuff....definitely a +10 for me if you can get this working properly...Its the one thing in Epoch driving me totally nuts...stupid floors/walls not staying proper height or inadvertently placing a wall and afterwards seeing that it was not totally straight...now your wall bows out/inward a bit....totally crap!

     

    You can barely see what you need when placing the stuff too...so that does not help in anyway either.  Why we need a timer on placement?  Just have a cancel/place button or key command...I want to have a final placement button...so that after putting up a wall, I can see it from all angles and if it looks good, then I can do a final OK, otherwise I just remove it and try again...rather than current method where I am screwed once placed.

     

    The ability to remove placed items would make building anything in Epoch 100% easier than its current state.

     

     

    Good Luck on the progress...I hope you get the Wall/Floor mix working well...in the video I saw it did not snap properly (wall was higher than the others in final placement...but also when first wall was placed it was not really snapped onto the floor piece.

  19. Some ideas roaming the nether brain area :)

     

    Gun emplacements (M60, M2HB, Mk19 - Soviet versions, etc.) - ability to craft a customized bunker complex

    Eventually have AI guards you can hire for base security

    More Skins....nationalities (Germans, Italians, French, Spanish, etc.) - Male & Female (definitely add more females - so they are not clones with new clothes of the same 1 model)

    Ability to remove anything you build

    Remove funky transaction emotes (you know the ones that remind you of a blowjob the avatar gives all the merchants)

    Ability to construct actual buildings - not the weird stuff from Epoch currently but an actual house, building, etc.  Make it a long term project - taking lots of resources, special resources, etc.

    Ability to construct stuff via an editor (since you cannot see stuff very well while placing it...half the time its always off a bit - too high, too low, too far left, too far right) - have a way to do this via some type of editor and create a blueprint - then build it via that blueprint for PRECISE placement of all objects without floor/ceiling/wall being funky and off

     

    Better way to swap weapons from the mouse roller....click 1 or 2....for example to swap out the default weapon setup

     

    Ability to chop wood/etc without the need to place the stupid ax into your weapon slot then click on the ax to make it primary then click the actual tree to start cutting....way overcomplicated and just crappy method of doing this....leave the damn ax on the toolbelt....right click to chop or something similar....it should not take forever to swap ax for primary weapon if you need to.

     

    Built in Admin Tools Script to Epoch Mod (Disable/Enable via toggle/batch file/etc.)

  20. Odd...nothing crashed to my knowledge unless it was a standard Helo crashsite beyond the airport...looked really cool and scary....almost thought...WTF! A Nuke!  When you view it a certain way, you see a huge black cloud as well....which is what I took for the nuke cloud at first....but when you move your view a little, the fire is gone...texture bug indeed :)  but its a cool looking one if that could be a nice forest fire due to a C130 crash or something similar :)
