  1. I've NEVER had a misfire, even using beat-up M16s, M4s, and M9s in the Army.

I've put about 2000+ rounds through my current M4 with no problems and just basic cleaning every couple-hundred rounds.

Maybe about 1000 through my XDm with no issues.  Several Para double-stack 1911s (notoriously known for issues) I've never had a problem with either.

The only weapons I've had issues with are the family M1A carbines, mostly because 2 of those are war bring-backs and I think it's time to take them to a Class III smith and have them completely rebuilt.

Also had a couple of issues with finicky .22 ammo going through a pistol suppressor however everyone knows rimfire ammo is finicky at times.

I don't think this is needed.

  2. I always spawn on the far west spawn point and immediately head south towards Kavala.

By the time I get there I'm usually nice and loaded up with loot and will turn back east to the nearest trader.

And now with cloaks dropping gems when killed it's even more profitable.

All in all, the 2.0.1 update has made Epoch much more interesting, especially now that the damn dogs aren't spawning on me every 2 minutes.

  3. I was sad to notice that on epochmod.com's #2 server today that my character no longer automatically knows his position.  I hope this is just an oversight!

You know, almost 25 years ago in the middle of nothingness Saudia Arabia, my unit's Bradley Fighting Vehicle got a small green box with only one calculator like LED display row to mount on the top of the track.  It let us navigate in a virtually featureless world.  15 years ago I bought my first moving map, hand-held GPS receiver, it was monochrome.  Today, color moving map GPS's are being replaced by Smartphone's in everyone's hands!  And in 2035, or whatever year it is, we have to use compass and orienteering skills?  Really?  Does it have to be this gay?

For the last 25 years I've working in one capacity or another as a software engineer.  There's a word in software we all need to learn, it's ABSTRACTION.  Software is always, in one way or another, an abstraction of the problem domain, of the real world, as it were.

Fighting against a system that DOES NOT PROVIDE THE NECESSARY TOOLS to actually orient and navigate yourself is idiotic and we should at least assume, as an abstraction, that our characters ALWAYS know where they are.  To do otherwise actually takes away from the game, takes away from the intelligence of game and devolves it into something much less.

    D'oh!

Now tell us what GPS "sad time" was.  I remember that as well.  I also remember our 1SG could never figure out how his plugger worked so we would always have to tell him where he was.

I don't get this, you can easily find a GPS in the game that will show you your position 24/7 once it's equipped.  It tells you your 6-digit grid which you can then easily see on the map.

  4. Walk backwards? They only move when you are not looking at them.

Exactly.  Here's what I've found them doing on another server:  the cloaks slow you down so the sappers can get you.

If you turn and look at them and move backwards eventually you'll be out of range of their attack and can then turn and run.

They'll follow you for quite a ways but eventually they'll despawn or stop.

I had 2 cloaks and 2 sappers on my tail and all I had was my BVDs and a fanny pack.

Then a UAV spawned in and I ran right under it hoping to trigger it so the AI would all attack each other but it never triggered so I one-shotted it with a .45 pistol.

  5. lol i just assumed everyone had seen the "Advanced Weapons Trader" or "Cultist Summoning Circle" markers my group always likes to put down to try and get someone to deliver loot to us ;D. we cant be the only ones trying to teach people not to trust the map. LoL

Tricks like that work both ways.  Look out that you don't get hunted yourself.

  6. Do what the U.S. military does on it's networks - permanent IP range blocklist for the entire Russian Federation, most former Eastern bloc countries, China, and most of Asia.

I guarantee you'll see an immediate drop in skiddiot attacks.  Make it too much work (or too laggy) and they just won't bother anymore.

  7. It's actually suppose to be like this, imagine the situation in real life

A group of 5 people hunting would have a better chance of 1 person hunting to survive.

Depends.  A group of 5 Kardashians are easy prey for 1 well-skilled, sociopathic lone wolf.

I've seen similar things overseas in different combat zones.  Those that hid and stayed away from others somehow survived.  Those that stayed home, died - or worse.

Those that stood their ground and fought back against tanks and snipers in the Balkans also died.  Sometimes they'd just pop out to try to scrounge supplies and get popped to the head and were dead before their bodies hit the ground.

It all depends on a lot of different factors, the least of which is just numbers.  Don't get cocky.

  8. I feel Like fuck off all of you, this is the internet and if you take the shit we say personal, than you probably should go fishing or soemthing and gtfo. This is a military game, where you fucking kill people...........

If no one can take a showdown between 2 rival clans on their server, than fuck you and your shitty ass server no one wants to play on because you have 15 yr olds as your server admins..... simple.

    #plzanhero

Why the fuck are you 40 yr old manchildren playing this shit anyways? go fucking golf or something plz, and let the millenials enjoy the last few years worth of video games in god damn peace....

    U mad, bro?

  9. Imagine if there was a tool that could scan in USGS topo maps and generate Arma 3 map terrain from that.

South Florida Keys, Carolina swamps and sandhills, Appalachia - just a few of the awesome maps that could be created then.

Hell, if there were a way to properly handle skyscapers and massive amounts of buildings one could even clone the 5 boroughs of New York City and re-enact Escape from New York.

Now go make it happen, Bob Plissken.

  10. Yes, as BioHazard said you have to hit the I key, then UNLOCK and then the scroll menu option to get in as driver or passenger will appear.

Don't forget that the INSPECT menu item pulls up the vehicle inventory.

  11. In the beginning I had a map there but after a while I switched to triple but the zoom annoyed Me and it just didn´t feel fair, now I know Altis like the back of my hand 900h+ on it : )

Fair?  FAIR?!?  There's no such thing as a "fair fight", only winners and losers.  Winners live, losers die.

Now as long as you're not actively "hacking" or "glitching" on the server itself to do impossible things like walk through walls, spawn extra items/dupe items, etc. then any game client "view" bugs that move things in your favor are free to use until BIS fixes them.

  12. i only play on official servers

Same here now.  I didn't know the "difference" when I first launched Epoch but after seeing all the hackers I quickly went and got myself whitelisted at a few official servers.  Now I only play on them.

  13. Sadly ARMA is so badly optimized for triple screen that I only use one, its configured so that all screens should be lined up straight so every thing in the side screens zooms in and I have not found anything that change it :(  Something that looks close on the side monitors can be quite far away, kinda cheating using it right now much worse then Gamma during night. Found so many vehicles and crates that I normally would not have found in Breaking Point when I used it.

Wish you could change the angles and bezels in the settings, Cause I want mine in 50-60 degrees. If this was implemented FPS would be more interesting to me.

Edit: Some of the settings I´m missing in ARMA now.

Ssshhhhh!  Stop giving away our secrets! :)

I do have a 4th monitor hooked up as well but that usually just displays a PDF map of Altis or what-have-you.

  14. I've never seen a dead trader on an official server - yet (CPC01 hardcore).

On hacked unofficial servers, I once found every trader shot dead.  Then an Ifrit showed up.  Then the lightbulb went off and I bailed out of that fracked server.
