Finally got it working. I removed all spaces from the paths to the server and configurations and it loaded perfectly. So for example c:\arma3server\SC\config.cfg works, No spaces and no quotes
-
I have the exact same problem, always instant kick with Epoch_loadFailed=true and there is mission selection screen when server starts. Also publicvariables.txt doesn't get edited. Watchdogs and BEC is running correctly and rcon admin is able to log in with no problem
Have also feeling that the SC\config.cfg doesn't load properly. Doesn't take max players and server name from there anyways -
Got killed in safe zone after a guy stole my car with 5!! Briefcases. Ban him now!! I want my gear back. Stupid admins never care, I'm done with this game, fucking hackers!
Yeah, I gave them back to G-man. Half-life 3 production was frozen without them. He was concerned though that someone has duped them, fucking arma

Im pretty sure that you will lose everything when the patch comes as probably there be a wipe with it
-
Sooo has anyone actually done it? From the replies I still don't know if u can?
This is Arma 3 problem and works in every arma 3 mod. Although some servers will ban you if you get caught doing this, so not very wise anyway. Some asshats will exploit this for sure though.

And they are not very "solid" as people can bug through them

Personally I don't like "territories" as some sort of in-game measure, ie. zones that somehow are defined showing on the map or otherwise being "visible" by some magical means. What I would love though is for players to place flags or signs on the server, that can be taken down or destroyed.
For example if CLAN DYSKLEKTIC has built a base, they should be able to construct a flag, and create different types of flagpoles that they can place, as well as sign posts they can place.
When the choice is between magical stuff and things that "seem" more real, always opt for the latter imo (invisible magical safezones belong in this category as well imo).
The flag pole could be easily implemented, already you can see your clan logo on uniforms and vehicles

I'm amazed at how low the numbers are playing this mod. I anticipated it to be rammed full of players fighting for spots on official servers. The truth is, apart from 2 or 3 full servers, there's not that many people playing it, despite the hysteria and interest prior to open release.
Regarding your quote of the game description, let me just say.........safety in numbers. Market place. But no, we have vulnerable lone traders dotted about the place.
I believe biggest issue with players leaving are skiddies and the fact you are not able to hoard stuff properly. There is still not much point in the game except alpha test mechanics

I honestly disagree with this post. You say "I really love the break from zombies", yet there are exploding ZOMBIES (just because they label them sappers doesnt change what they essentially are, brain-dead AI that only mindlessly attack.)
You were half right, many people were excited when they heard Epoch was going to 'move away' from zombies and towards other antagonists. Many people were also extremely disappointed to find out that they instead opted to have silly suicidal exploding zombies, and lame UAVs that only the newest of players are challenged by.
Also, the 'Rock God' thing they are working on is a complete joke. This is not what people wanted, people wanted IMMERSIVE antagonists, like AI that defend a fort, ROAMING bears/wolfs that attack players (not just dogs). There are so many things they could do and all these EXPLODING zombies, silly grim reaper characters, and lack-luster AI spawning from extremely easy-to-kill and avoid UAVs is NOT the direction I feel like they were trying to convince people they were going in.
Also, the medical system and vehicle repair system is an absolute joke. What happened to needing to find specific repair parts for your car? What happened to blood bags, epipens to revive and bandages? Bleeding isn't even noticable anymore, and really is hardly a thing.
It is sad to see how simplified and dumbed down this version of Epoch is, I REALLY hope these things are just placeholders and they are going to realize their mistake.
Remove the multitool completely
Add specific vehicle repair parts
Add specific medical supplies (bandages/blood bags/antibiotics)
Remove exploding zombies
Remove grim reaper
Scrap the 'Rock God' idea
Add interesting AI, like HUMANS that defend/roam/attack player bases, REAL animals!
Seriously guys!!
All except multitool are wrong game. I think it's much better that epoch dev team tries to do as much as possible , dumbing it down to just realistic stuff (which is what Arma team have already been doing) is not the best creativity you can do. In the end when the server files are released, you are going to have every game type you can imagine. It's much better that Epoch has taken totally new approach to this game. so in the end it will bring new ideas to the table and people can refine them as much as they like. For example that golem guy could be modified to mechs and go even futher to the future etc..
-
+1 All these kind of mechanics should be added to Epoch before launching the server files
-
My guess is it's a bug and not really planned. How loot spawning works is that every player spawns a defined amount of loot, if you are with more people that amount will stack, so with 6 players there will be helluva much loot. Also it's apparently made so that different players wont spawn loot to the same building
-
Altis is just fine, maybe not now but when the full scale base building starts, Altis will get stuffed pretty fast and there will be a lot more action in the map as a whole. Not to mention that Epoch will utilize almost every map when server files will be released, so using time to dumb down a map is not very wise action to do

This is copied from steam discussion regarding to GameHack #38 betweed Laffety and Raif from Overwolf
Any software that injects into other processes even if it hasnt done so for arma may be flagged and cause an admin ban. Even for legitimate clean software it can still happen since battleeye absolutely hates anything related to software being able to inject and manuipulate its games in any way possible.

Gentlemen seeing the topic of discussion you are both engaged in forces me to chime in here - so pardon the interruption: Both can have valid points but I can tell you that what does matter is the quality of product you are using whether it be speakers or headsets. And I have both. I have an excellent speaker surround system with bass for music, movies and such. And I will use it for racing games and sometimes BF4. But to be honest with most of my games that I really want to hear every little sound - and I mean EVERY little sound - like footsteps, reloading of guns, and other characters making sounds of any type I use headsets. Sounds simply sound the way they're supposed to with a good pair of headsets, they're not too loud nor are they too quiet if setup properly. Now like I said you have to have a good pair of headsets, I use the Razer Tiamat 7.1 which has True Surround Sound with a sound card that supports 7.1. My in-game sounds in ANY game are simply amazing no matter what I play and no matter how quiet or loud the sound is - also perfectly directional, like in real-life. Either way it comes down to being a personal choice, but the fact of the matter is that the quality of your sound source does matter which can go both ways depending on what you're using. Anyways..
The quality of the product is not actually even the point here, it's purely Arma 3 sound mixing problem. Personal choices of course matters here and I believe that was the whole point. That's the reason I voted for drone sound. I can manage that im not able to hear every little sound, but problem before that drone sound was getting killed to those grunts. Now at least I can hear when they spawn and I have no problem with the status quo

As this Alpha has pretty small world build limit, how about making some kind of deadline to remove building pieces that have not been protected by Frequency jammer? Few days for example, so there would be some time to save your base if the jammer is destroyed.
I think it would be more important to remove obsolete pieces to let people build and test the mechanics than let every work of art to persist until server is cleaned from everything and of course this kind of system could be useful even in the retail to keep servers clean (like variable, where 0 is infinite) -
Epoch is future themed mod, so most certainly it will contain arma 3 assets
-
I agree with loot. How hard to find can scrap metal be in such world. Maybe add something else to create frequency jammer, so the basic wall building would be bearable. The current system almost begs you to dupe scrap metal, which I think is just ridiculous and wrong headed
-
Well thanks for clarifying this for me anyways Cen

But still someone has to pay 40€ to get it spawned in the first place and with indestructible cinder the securing is not that hard so after that there is zero chance of getting part of it. This is very questionable to say the least. Have BI checked your business model and agreed with it?

http://atdgaming.net/index.php?/store/category/2-epoch-items/
That Villa for example is not pre-fab base? Or am I looking at the wrong ATD? -
"Nevertheless, in any way making the “donation” as part of a condition to receive access to/or getting any part of offered content would be in breach of the License Agreement. The content you create must be available to all whether they donate to you or not."
Cen how about those bases in your server players can buy? That content is available to everyone no matter if they donate? How do I get Villa for myself without donating to you? -
Honestly I think that kind of cloaking seen in the video makes you even more visible. Who wouldn't notice that kind of wobble. Maybe it would be nice if there we're Stalker like mosquito mangle gravity pits, that move and look exactly like that wobble, but uniquely that beats the purpose I think

Like players trying to kill you through 2 buildings with 50 cal.... there is no chance to see a enemy behind 2 big buildings.
Or player who are active in every firefight on the map.. 16km distance in 10min and finding the fight directly? no problem at all for some players.
Players who have 20x 40mm grenades and killing every hidden target directly? no problem at all... most of it seen on the official eu servers like skaronator.
sorry for my bad english
Non passworded server are going to have hackers as long as 1.32 arma 3 version is not released. Try to bear with the situation, or get access to server that is whitelisted or passworded and that too is NOT 100% guarantee for skiddie free gameplay. This problem has been at least partly solved by BI dev team, but the patch is not out yet
-
Are you sure it wasn't the skiddie crap? Server is not passworded or whitelisted, so it could be those skiddies at work
Some publicvariable.txt exceptions

You need to have this kind of configuration in /arma 3 server/@EpochHive/epochAH.hpp
adminMenu_Owner[] = {{"Insert your GUID here","Insert name for Admin"}};
BEC should not have to be started before the server
