  1. What Triage said unfortunately.

I Have hopped around a little bit, keep trying to play on servers which are more difficult and do not offer freebies such as BC's and high military loot spawns, servers don't and won't get populated.

Recently jumped on NMG Bolt Action server, was 16 players or so when I played saturday night, came to jump on tonight and there is 2 or 3, and the server was fun to play, getting use to only first person was interesting too.

  2. The Location is not the deciding factor but it does SEEM TO increase the chance of a worker zombie dropping a combination lock, I know this is going to be met with many people telling me the chances are the same and that it is just because there is more of them, but I have done numerous tests on this same issue, and I find that when I am in highly industrial areas and/or capital cities, I have a much higher rare drop to kill ratio.

I can end up killing hundreds of workers across the map without any luck, move to an industrial area and within the same amount of zombies, I have managed to get a few dropped, I would say this seems to be the case the vast majority of the time, and never to my memory been the other way round.

  3. I don't think the guy has god mode on, I just think there was a serious lag issue at the time, if you pause the video just as you are quitting, you see blood splatter, and also it looks as though his body is falling forward a bit, maybe he was dead but it just took a moment to register, which is still an issue by the way.

I don't blame you for quitting under them circumstances, ridiculous you fired off a whole clip and you see no evidence of hits for that amount of time.

  4. I found one in the end, however later that night i crashed it :( so no chopper at all now, Im generally the only player on the map, been hoarding gear for a few days, someone did come on whilst i was asleep though and destroy everything, back to the drawing board i think.

  5. Indeed a satchel charge does, also the MAAWS and a couple of the high powered vehicle weapons, however, used in the correct context for example satchel 1 wall and rush into someones base sounds great, but go to bed on a night to wake up the next day with no base left because someone just wanted to destroy things can get frustrating, I know this is the real dayz experience but basebuilding is the number 1 reason people play epoch.

The rope sounds like a fantastic idea, would need to make it difficult to obtain however, maybe have rope as rare drop from barns, and then the rope hook as a rare drop from worker zombies, similar to the sledgehammer but maybe a little rarer, and have it only have 1 use.

This would give the availability for hotwire kits and rope w/hook to be used a limited number of times to raid/steal from bases, making the player who owns them choose carefully about when to use them.

  6. If i remember correctly there is a server (rappelkiste) i think the name was that uses mining of rocks as a way of getting cinder etc.

also Origins mod uses cement mixers in the creation of houses.

The idea however is definitely something I wouldn't mind seeing implemented into Epoch, it gives players who prefer to do a lot of manual work, a viable option to getting cinder.

  7. By reading peoples responses in threads like this I always think, if well all played in 1 server it would be the best server ever, seems more than I first predicted like difficult/mature gameplay, but for some reason the most populated servers are "free safe for players/free building supplies/extra loot/militarized" etc etc

  8. Easy vs Hard?

I Prefer to play on ridiculously hard servers, but then again, I feel I am in a minority when it comes to that, I hate custom scripts such as auto-refuel/repair etc, but the majority seem to want the game to hand everything to them, the problem is that dayz and anything related seems to have lost its zombie survival feel, and it has become a deathmatch with base building game (for epoch that is).

    Map?

Chernarus is a well balanced map, but I tend to prefer smaller maps, or maps with less high value buildings, whether it be Barracks, 3 story industrial etc. I like namalsk, however there is in my opinion too many barracks on that game to make it a challenge.

Napf seems to be fairly popular at the moment, again though, the capital cities are just huge loot areas.

    Features?

The only feature I always look for is 3rd person enabled, I like difficult but 1st person can be very frustrating when driving, or if you think you are in cover and you are sticking an arm out the side of a tree etc.

There are a number of scripts out there which offer a mix between super hard and easy, for example self bloodbag only in a hospital, or towing only allowed with 2 people to hook the cars together, customising trader prices is also a must, its no challenge if you can run a few barracks, sell guns by safe, repeat.

    PvE vs PvP

I've never played a PVE server, and even though the sound of it is interesting, the fear of losing everything, or combat at mission points etc is vital, i know it attracts KoS etc, but thats part of the game, the key to eliminating this is the community, admins etc, to create a friendly environment, but don't ban KoS, just maybe hunt down people who do it, make it not worth it for people etc.

    Weapons

Ideally, No MAAWS, no dmr, no armoured SUV, etc etc, make scoped guns rarer, and ammo harder to find/more expensive, I like to think that if this situation actually happened, people would have pistols, hunting rifles, enfields etc, but how many military grade weapons would be out there, certainly wouldn't be 90% of the populationg running round with m14, or M4A3 CCO's.

Anything else you think is relevant, feel free to toss in just for the hell of it.

Missions, Crash Sites, etc are important if you want to drawer players in, keeping it well balanced and always somewhere to develop is the way to keep them, the second part is much much harder than the first.

  9. I have been playing a desolate server for a little bit, living completely off the land, No zombies, No players, Extremely Limited Industrial Spawns, which has brought up a slight problem for me, I have yet to find a Main Rotor in the few days I have played.

It seems the only way to get industrial loot is from debris removal, but I seem to only find Glass, Engine, Fuel tank, Jerry cans, Scrap Metal and wheels.

Is it just my really bad luck or is it not possible to get Main Rotor from debris removal, I feel like I have looked everywhere on this internet for the answer and have not managed to find out, so if someone could let me know i would be very greatful.

  10. What smaller maps are available for the epoch mod, I've played Chernarus, Napf, Lingor, Taviana, Sahrani, maybe a couple more that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Are there any which you would say are more suited to a 30-35 player server with maybe only 1 town/city where loot must be contested, but offers a lot of farmland, country roads to camp away?

  11. One of the biggest problems with this game is, it's old. Long gone are the days when I can really enjoy playing the game for its survival aspects. I just get too bored too quickly. This is pretty much the deal with most people who play the game. Add in the fact that a lot of people who play are quite young kids who jump between call of duty and dayz, and you're basically SOL. Like I said I tried running a hardcore survival styled server and it was just dead all day everyday. Hell I can't even put night time on my server without everyone up in arms and killing the server population.

I do see your point, the game has gone on longer than I would play any other game, but if i'm not mistaken, Arma 3's epoch, Dayz SA, and H1Z1 all on the horizon (I know SA is out, but does not yet offer half the feature it needs to sustain long gameplay) then surely there will be a place for us "more survival, less shoot em up" style players.

  12.   Couldn't you just not use any of those features?

I play on a server with auto-refuel and such but I don't use it.  Problem solved.

I Could elect to just ignore the features that are implemented into the game, and create for myself the experience I am looking for, however, its when the multi-player aspect comes into the game, the ability for someone else to auto refuel could be the difference between me raiding an unsuspecting player who's refuelling their car or someone who I had chased and had the ability to constantly add more fuel to get away.

I know these situations are rare, and would not effect gameplay very much at all, but really what I am after is an even harder version that no scripts.

Apologies if this constitutes advertising, but when I spent some time playing on aftermath servers, I found that it offered a much more challenging gameplay, but the thing that is most vital to me is epoch's modular building system, unfortunately I can't combine the too, it would have times when the brown oil barrels were out of fuel, which would happen in a zombie apocalypse.

  13. Well, in that case show me a chainsaw that outputs lumber if we are gonna stick to realism.

If you were hacking at a tree with a hatchet, realistically you would get piles of wood, different shapes and sizes, however, if you had a chainsaw, after the first saw to take the tree down you would be making more precise cuts for sure, leaving you with planks (which is as much like the epoch lumber as you could get) I actually think that is one of the more realistic parts of crafting.

I've been chopping away with the chainsaw over the past couple hours and i've been thinking how nice it would be to have machines we could hook up to a generator then choose an option to create wood walls, floor/ceiling, lumber packs, plywood packs etc... then just feed that machine lumber to process the chosen option.

Am I just day dreaming or is this something that people would want in Epoch?

Would be easy, but in a world where sh*t went down, you dont really think of mechines, Its more about your own two hands. After your done making your base, you feel so much better since you made it with your two hands, sort of....

Agree with Namindu on this one, Its an apocalyptic world, difficulty and time should be factors, I'm sure there are many who would like the option, I just don't think it would be for me.

  14. If you can name me another mod with the great modular building system epoch has I will agree with you, but when there are hundreds of different servers out there, I would expect there to be some out there which cater to players who like a different style of gameplay.

I have played on some which have 1 trader city, some which have custom traders with no building/vehicle/medical parts, which are more towards my style, but not found the perfect one yet.

  15. I Have been searching for the perfect server for a long time now, and still to no avail. I keep seeing hundreds of the same server, auto this and auto that... Its a zombie apocalypse, it should be difficult, there should not be an endless supply of items/vehicles etc.

I am looking for a server which does NOT include any of the following:

    Auto-Refuel / Auto Repair.
Self Bloodbag (unless in a hospital).
    Heli Evac / Towing
    Trader Cities or Traders.
    Currency in any form.
    OP Weapons and Vehicles
    Extra Barracks/Industrial
    AI which drop weapons
.... Im sure you get the picture by now.

I do however wish to keep a few things in the game, I enjoy 3rd person, I feel it adds some more tactics to a battle, but it does have dissadvantages of being slightly slower on the trigger against an enemy in 1st person.

If you have a server, or know of a server which I may find suits me please let me know.
