Base Building Help

Question

Hey guys,

 

I really want to build an Airbase where I can park my Helicopters and Planes.

 

Now the problem is In the standard Editor you cannot place runways or roads so I would have to get the MAP Editorupgrade (EU) by Lester. Is this Mod compatible with DayZ epoch or will my Clients have to download it aswell and can I place runways and roads suspended in the air ?

Hi Champ,

 

Run Arma II OA with -mod=@dayz_epoch and that should include @MAP This will include tress, roads, and neato stuff.

 

You can do the above via direct .exe shortcut with added parameters, Steam with added parameters, or Dayz Commander with added parameters.

 

Since @Map is built into the client files "all" dont quote me objects should spawn in the world.

 

Some with animations however may have issues and will need to removed or replaced with versions compatible if possible.

 

To elevate flat objects likes roads I am unsure, even to manipulate them sometimes you need to put another object close and select both and use the other as a grab point.

I'm in the Editor right now and I tried to place a runway but it sticks to the ground making it useless...

 

To simplify things I decided to placed some nav_pier_c in the water for now and elevate them later. However I ran into a few problems.

The first one is that when I move one of these piers they lean to the side making them almost impossible to place accurately If I then proceed to edit the object and then just press okay it will flip into it's normal angle again but when I drag it again it starts tilting again.

The second problem is I can't find a way to elevate objects I tried the this setPos [getPos this select 0,getPos this select 1,1000] code but it doesn't work not even on the vanilla Arma objects. Maybe this is because we are using the alternative editor and not the standard one?

 

So now if anybod has any idea how to stop the object from bending over when I touch it and how to get it up, I would be very thankfull,

Water is a tricky one I am also yet to concur...

 

The only decent attempt I have seen is with skalisty bridge. (Patience of a saint.. )

 

If anyone has a trick on how to elevate objects and keep them facing up over water let me know..

 

I once built a awesome base on the Cherno docks and when I brought it it it almost destroyed my hopes when building bases... since then I have stuck to the flattest level terrain I can find.

If you convert them to SQM cords you can edit for elevation, however I am yet to try to elevate items like roads, helipads and runways etc that tend to stick to the ground no matter how much you hold alt and try to elevate them..

Okay I removed the Vehicles and added it with the SQF Parser it's there but all the changes done to the height aren't in effect so it's on the water!

 

any idea how to fix this ?

 

Edit:

 

When you log off on the Base you are no longer on it when you relog you will be trapped inside the parts.

 

This is turning into a nightmare xD
