Murica Posted May 10, 2015 Report Share Posted May 10, 2015 Hey guys, I've never played the arma 3 mod, still the arma 2, but now that arma 3 is on sale I was thinking of buying it. My one questions is whether I should buy the addons (helicopters, marksman, karts) too. Are any of these used in the mod and if they are can I still use the guns and helis if I don't have the addon? Nic Posted May 10, 2015 Report Share Posted May 10, 2015 All of the DLC content is included by default in the mod, although some servers may have customized and removed it. I would say that most server include all of the DLC content. With the heli DLC, you can only ride as a passenger in the heli and you cannnot pilot them, with the marksmen DLC you cannot use any of the guns, and with the karts DLC you cannot drive the karts but you can wear the clothing and head gear (although if you wear the the karts DLC clothing advertisements will pop up every once in a while.) I don't care about the carts and the heli dlc only adds 2 choppers. I would think there would be enough guns without the 7 that the marksmen dlc adds too. In terms of the heli DLC, it is true that only 2 types of helis were added, but one of the types, the Taru, has several different variations. So, on a default server about a third of the helis on the map are from the DLC. If you are lonewolf and looking for choppers, this puts you at a pretty big disadvantage. But if you have a decent pilot that owns the DLC you should be fine. For the marksman DLC, as long as you don't mind not being able to grab a gun off a bead body or grabbing one from a loot container sometimes, you should be fine. I'm not sure how common the guns from the DLC are, I don't think they are super rare and you will probably see them a decent amount, maybe someone else can chime in. I decided to buy the DLC and I have gotten a good amount of use out of it and I think if money isn't really an issue, you would be better of with it. Probably want to wait until some other people chime in about whether or not to buy it before you make a decision.
