Recurring FPS drops

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Ever since i started playing arma2 i am encountering FPS drops every few Minutes. It makes the game nearly un-playable. I am normally at 20 - 30 FPS depending on where i am.

Now this is not like the random fps lagg we know from arma2, which takes up a few FPS. This is a continious Loop of drops every x minutes. It goes down to about 3 - 5 FPS.

I tryed about 20 different combinations of Graphic settings and at the moment i just got it all on normal. Except the fact that the game looks crap if i lower the 3D Resolution that did not help. I tried ofc setting everythint to very low or off and put the view distance to 200 which is the minimum but then i got 60 FPS and the drop is still not fixed and it also makes no difference on how far down it drops as even with 60 fps it will drop to 5 fps. It does not matter if i move or not, also it does not matter how many players are online. The only thing i found out is,thay

Now i also tried to do that GPU or CPU dunno what it's called but i have set it to 1 in the cfg files.

Im running on windows 8.1, it's the Lenovo G50 and all drivers are updated. My Firewall is on but i doubt that has something to do with it. I got some Programm called Smart Ram that should close unnecessary Tasks, but i never really get over 40% ram usage anyway.

It wont let me Edit my own Post after i accidently send it off on my phone.

so the only thing that does matters is: if i alt tab out of the game it seems to take longer untill the fps drops again.

I had some similar problems, do not know how i solved them, but i remember that it had something to do with the hardrive. Allways had the drops as soon as the hardrive reached the 100%, so i looked through all my programs to check what was causing it.

Can't remember what was the solution, but you could run your task-manager and check your perfomance on the monitor there while playing/testing.

You can start arma in window mode or ALT+Enter to get in window mode, if you only have one monitor to see it live.

Tasks:

Actually the only tasks running on startup are those i can't cancel + wlan.

This is the config from GameBooser, i don't know if that helps but i didn't had it on for a while.

Right, the only Option i could find is Intel Virtual Technology. Has something to do with Vanderpool technologies. However, i turned it off on my BIOS settings and that was the only thing i touched. Now my Laptop won't start anymore. It's restarting continiously before loading Windows 8.1. It's a shame really, that Laptop is brand new and i'm having problems with it ever since. Never buy Lenovoo stuff.

//EDIT:
Nothing seems to really help..

Nothing wrong with Lenovo, I use a t440p and can develop on it. I wouldn't try cranking the GFX up though, them on board intel chips aren't the greatest. Am guessing you have a V series, much better than the one I have :) you only want to disable the hyper threading technology for running hyper v, would expect that to be off by default. The core multi processing leave on, mine ground to a halt when I tried it off. Hit F9 in the bios to load your defaults and try again.
