Most (not all) new players can't connect...what's happening?

Hi everyone

 

I'm running a server and in the bottom left I keep seeing:

 

"player" connecting

"player" connected

"player" disconnected

 

All within the space of only 3 seconds.

 

So I'm guessing they are trying to join and are immediately booted out again.

 

Can anyone tell me why that's happening?

 

It isn't happening with every player but I'm estimating that about 75% of the connections are bouncing, that's a lot of potential players to be losing! That's also what I can't understand, why only kick some and not all...obviously the server is setup correctly.

 

What can be happening? I've asked the guys I rent a server from and they said it could be that the bounced connections are using old versions of the mod but didn't give me any concrete reasons.

 

I just want to make sure it's nothing I'm doing! I'm new to the server game any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

They don't have the proper addons loaded.. Happens *all the time*

What Ned said, either that or wrong launch parameters, either way they're client errors and nothing you can fix without educating people.

Is your server running the fluxcapacitor script? if not it could be your cause :/

Sorry for the long response time, I hadn't been back on this page to see it. I just happened to find it when my browser reloaded.

 

I'm not sure in all honesty...I'll try and look into that, can you tell me where I'd find it?

 You do need the flux capacitor script, for sure because epoch is set in the future 2035, how would the server work otherwise:)

 

maybe your non connecting users are playing in 2015 and as such they are time travelers to the server so it kick's them:)
