Njoi
Looks very nice actually, to be honest I miss trees and isolated towns more than I miss Chernarus.
hobobandit
Chernarus can be used in Arma 3, it has been allowed by the APL. See Arma Public Licence here: https://www.bistudio.com/community/licenses/arma-public-license Dont confuse Chernarus with ChernarusPLUS from Dayz standalone, the APL does not allow the usage of Dayz SA content. I dont see any reason why Chernarus should be added to the Epoch mod itself, there already exist a high quality pack of the old maps, that is currently being upgraded with new features (like enterable buildings for some maps). http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?182072-All-in-Arma-Terrain-Pack-%28AiA-TP%29-A1-A2-OA-terrains-from-BI-in-A3 Porting Arma 2 maps to A3 standards is alot of work, so I would rather have the devs working on the Epoch mod itself than on terrains. The terrain pack can be easily downloaded with tools like PlayWithSix. The devs only need to make a server with a mission files that uses the map. cring0 and ramme223
hobobandit
One thing to note, is that there are only a few enterable buildings in Chernarus. And I dont know if the devs have defined loot container positions for them. Maybe the solution for Chernarus is to add lots of trash piles to compensate the scarcity of enterable buildings? You could do that, but beaware the more objects you spawn, the more "stress" the server has wich equals poor performance on a already poorly optimised map. As to the poll , i voted No, just no. The basic facts, Texture wise , A2 and A3 do not mix. Open buildings, Will render large parts of Chernarus useless. Added work needed to add A2 buildings to spawn tables. Due to lack of open buildings a whole new balance issue arrises. Not to mention is way to early to even consider additional maps. Why not just play A2 Epoch? or DayZ: SA? Dean hall is already hoping epoch moves to DayZ:SA ( I do hope they wont ^^) HellbillyChaz
ShallowTech
Personally, I do not care. It is a fun map and I know it well but it does not matter either way. However, if it is possible leave it up to the host to decide. I am sure there are a lot of people that would like to play Cherno in Amra3 EPOCH
Njoi
I just find it excessively large and have a hard time getting into PvP. After about 40 hours of gameplay I think I've had about 4 or 5 pvp engagements. Maybe I'm just going to the wrong places? The majority of those engagements happened in or around the central airport. Even if the server pop was doubled and I had 10 engagements after 40h of gameplay it would still be an issue. I want to stress that I know this is not an epoch problem but more of an Arma problem. It's just negatively impacting my gameplay and I find myself getting bored and anxious.
SkyDogs
Missions are meant to bring the players together, in a fighting way you understand? Speaking of missions, I could never understand why they weren't in the cities and towns, but always in the open fields. Urban battles are much more fun in my opinion. cring0
Actually the latest arma 2 epoch 1.0.5.1 Chernarus map does have a bunch of enterable buildings. I'm pretty sure that was due to adding buildings from another mod. I don't think it was actually an update to the map itself. a new map would be nice the size of sauerland mabey a little bigger, a combo map with cherno and some other popular maps conbined mabey namalsk a cold island infested with bloodsuckers and rare loot inthe corner of the map taviana for a few trader citys some close to the edgeof the map with the water surrounding the land and could lingor conect to cherno and tavianna as a jungle to cross with snakes and crocks and chernarus in the bottom left corner with some other bits to connect it all together ii mean a motherload map a map for everyone to enjoy together o_O I mean, we can all dream. But, who knows, maybe in Arma 10. Limitations might allow for more than 40 people on a server by then. Dean hall is already hoping epoch moves to DayZ:SA ( I do hope they wont ^^) Oh god... I mean, if his team wanted to collaborate with the Epoch devs to get base building into SA, that'd be one thing. But, I just can't see it. I don't mean to be a jerk, but that just seems like it would be a huge waste of time lol.

Speaking of missions, I could never understand why they weren't in the cities and towns, but always in the open fields. Urban battles are much more fun in my opinion. This depends on the server owner/mission system, i used to work with a custom mission system on a Napf Epoch server where we would not limit missions to just being 10 AI standing somewhere in the open, But to have a mix of Convoy's, open "base" area's and using city's and pretty much all vehicles. (Downside to doing this might be -> Problems with traders,Server performance,Missions are to hard whiner's etc) <snip> Oh god... Don't fully recall the interview, but it was along the lines of We'll do base building like this with boarding up windows, then the rest would have been up to Modders such as Epoch, but he named epoch directly wich is great for Epoch but also not so great Meh. Regardless i currently fully agree with your statement, i do hope more of the A2 modders, will move up to A3 instead of D:SA whenever that reaches V1.0....not likely...ever... Morgan_Freeman
personally Chernarus is kinda old, so official support i'd say no. If someone wants to do it privately then sure.
