  1. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN SOLVED! FIX IS BELOW! If you are using SurvivalServers, or any other server host that allows HTTP server pbo upload, DON'T USE IT! It doesn't save your changes to your server PBO regardless if the server is offline! I simply uploaded my PBO's to the FTP and it fixed it.   3. So, recently I was just browsing trough forums and I read about Headless Clients and I was like phew that would be a nice thing to have man. So I went straight to the Downloads, gave them a few Tests and decided screw this. I've seen "ARMA 2" Headless Clients using event handlers, that are for arma3 - not even sure, if they actually work in arma2 and then it's a mess (no offence thou, but it was very hard to read trough all that). Well, what Solutions did I have? Making my own one and share it with the Community to improve it to an acceptable Standard. The following Video (Sound might be loud) shows an Example of the Headless Client So, what's so Special about this... Well first of all this works on any Map. Also it works with any Loot Table. Also it works without the need of a player. It has it's own "independent Area" where it interacts in. What I mean with that is, that you won't need to rely on any Functions, as everything that is needed is included. All Variables and Functions work outside of the normal "dayz stuff", as only the Headless Client loads it and it won't overwrite anything. Also it comes with a few features available. You can fully customize the spawn Ratio between Zombies spawned on Buildings and in Wilderness, for Example you could have 3x as many Zombies in cities You can fully customize the Loot Tables or integrate your existing ones just by changing a variable You can fully customize which modules to use, like animal spawn, wild zombie spawn, building zombie spawn, loot spawn and custom spawn. You can customize which Animals to Spawn You can make AI Shoot at the Zombies You can shuffle the Loot by setting permaLoot to false, as the server clean up will then clean it up and the hc will just re-spawn it. You can ofc set how many zombies / animals / loot piles should max be spawned For a full List, of available Options see the variablesHC.sqf. The Performance While you have the ability to use all those variables, you can tweak the performance of this. However, the script will only be as good as the code and I'm not perfect. I tried my best to check every tiny bit to make sure nothing ever goes wrong, but there's always that slight possibility. Also I'm not perfect and this is my very first attempt, so if I did something wrong or could've done it better just let me know. Also be carefully, when changing the Script Timers, as a to low value might impact dramatically on your FPS. The Design This Client is not meant to Tackle the common Problem of a Headless Client joining to early, etc. It is meant to be persistent, reliable and functional. It more a "spawning handler" for various things like the loot. If you want a "perfect" Headless Client this is not the thing you're searching for. This is the Basement of a Script that is living from user Input, user Feedback and user advices. It wants further improving (if possible) and optimizing (if possible). Regardless of the fact, that it is fully Stable you can however do things wrong - I personally have only limited methods to test this Client, while you or other maybe have a large player base that is willing to tackle a new world of Zombies - so.. If you find any Bug or have any more wishes just let me know. The Installation Please prepare for everything, that you'll need: An Editor of your choice (OK, this was obvious) Your mission.sqm (Located in your MPMissions\DayZ_Epoch_%INSTANCE%.%MAP% Your init.sqf (Located in your MPMissions\DayZ_Epoch_%INSTANCE%.%MAP% Your config.cfg (Usually Located in a Folder called "instance_number_mapName") The Headless Client itself (See also: GitHub - Headless Client) IF you do NOT have a Headless Client Installed or failed to install it before: Before you continue, check that the class name from the code that you just copied is correct. In most cases you will have to change it to "class Item1". Once you checked everything (Did you check everything?) press CTRL + F again and search for "class Groups". It will take you to the class, where you then can locate a single Line saying "items = 2". Change this to "items = 3". NOTE: It doesn't necessary has to be items 2 for you, if you already added something else before! To fully isolate the HC from the rest of your files you will have to change quite a few bits and pieces in the init.sqf. You decide whether or not to Load them on the Headless Client, but I recommend not to. So you will want to put the bottom parts inside an IF again, for Example: if (isServer || hasInterface) then { execVM "custom\scripts\weather\DynamicWeatherEffects.sqf"; [7,true,true,15] execFSM "custom\fsm\core_time.fsm"; #include "\z\addons\dayz_code\system\BIS_Effects\init.sqf" }; IF you do have a Headless Client installed or managed to do so before: The Last Step is simply to create a Folder inside your Mission named "headlessclient" (You can ofc define your own paths) and put all the HC Files into that Folder. Edit the Variables if you want to or just hop right into game and start the massacre! PS: If I was unclear with the Instructions at any point let me know. //EDIT: Just out of interest I forced the HC to join the wrong slot, to see what happens. Apparently it can be in any slot, it doesn't differ ^^ //Edit Apparently some files on Github got broken during the Upload, they have meanwhile been replaced.
  4. Hello there! Not my first work, but also not the best! I'm just starting a own server, and adding a bit of customstuff for the future players. I wanted to share that stuff with you, so you can use it aswell, if you going to like it.   5. Hi, I have just tried installing the tow and lift script from Nox for version 1.0.5.1 and whilst the tow and lift seems to work, it's had an impact on a couple of other things. Now, when my game starts, rather than loading into the game, I start off looking at the map and I get a message about "couldn't find some script to do with animals", then when I am in game, the F1 key to quieten the vehicle noise doesn't work. Anyone had this before, got any thoughts or steps to take to identify what's causing the problem? Thanks
  6. I am trying to setup an overpoch server, but starting as epoch because its first time. Now I got the server setup very easily. But, I can't get admin tools to install. I followed the very limited and outdated guide to the best of my ability and yeah.. its like I didn't even do anything. There are 0 guides, 0 tutorials, and 0 videos when it comes to arma 2 epoch and admintools. Unless its from 2013 and crap. I know there is someone out there that can help me with this so hopefully I'm in the right place. Really want to get my server up and running. I am a web developer so I'm not a scripting noob.

The following tutorial is based on my knowledge, trial and error, debugging and contact with different users on the issue. I hope to provide the most detailed, and easy-to-follow tutorial on the web. (4GB for around 60 players.) Harddrive of atleast 25GB for the game files. A Good connection (40Mbit Upload / Download) Atleast a Two-Core CPU. [Creating your server] If you have any of the games installed previously, I would recommend deleting them to not face any problems in the future. Install the C++ Redistributable Packages and restart your computer/box. (I recommend to install both x64 and x86 if you have a 64bit Operating system. Create a folder, preferably on your Desktop called "Dayz Epoch Server". Launch steam, login. Download Arma 2. Download Arma 2 : Operation Arrowhead. Wait until they are complete. Launch Arma 2 in windowed mode, wait until you are at the main menu, then close the game. Do the same for Arma 2 : Operation Arrowhead. Launch DayZ Commander. Click "install/update" in the top right of the window. Install the Arma 2 Beta Patch http://i.imgur.com/RwNq8ti.png Wait until that is complete. Now, go to your Steam Folder. Usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ Copy everything from inside your "Arma 2" Folder inside the "DayZ Epoch Server" folder we created on your desktop in Step 1. Do the same for your "Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead" Folder EXCEPT any folders starting with an @. Click "Yes" to any popups asking you to overwrite the files. Take a deep breath. The easy part is now done. Take the Epoch Client and Server files that you downloaded earlier and put them on your Desktop. Open them up with WinRar http://i.imgur.com/g48k2s5.png Copy "@DayZ_Epoch" from the Client files into "DayZ Epoch Server" on your Desktop. Copy "@DayZ_Epoch_Server" from the Server files into "DayZ Epoch Server" on your Desktop. Copy the "Keys" folder from the Server files into "DayZ Epoch Server". Open the "Battleye" folder inside the Server files and copy everything inside into the "BattlEye" folder inside the "DayZ Epoch Server folder" on your Desktop. (Note the difference in Capitalization.) Copy all the 4 ".dll" files from your Server files into the "Dayz Epoch Server" folder. http://i.imgur.com/vzYLZ4v.png Open up "MPMissions" from your Server files and find the mission that you want. I will be using "DayZ_Epoch_11.Chernarus" for this tutorial. Copy that to your "MPMissions" folder inside the "Dayz Epoch Server" folder that is on your Desktop. Open "Config-Examples" from your Server files, then copy the matching instance number as your Mission to your "Dayz Epoch Server" folder. We will use "instance_11_Charnarus". Copy "DayZ_Epoch_instance_11_Chernarus.bat" from that same folder into the "Dayz Epoch Server" on your Desktop. Setup and install XAMPP, then make sure mysql and apache are started. Click the "Admin" button next to MySQL in the XAMPP control panel. Once the phpMyAdmin page is loaded, at the top, click "Users". Under the Users overview, click Add user. Enter "Epoch_User" as the User name. (without the "" ). As the Host, select "Local" from the dropdown box. Enter a password. I will use "password123" but please make sure to use something more secure. Scroll down and click "Check All" from the Global privileges then remove ALL Administration privileges like GRANT and SUPER. At the bottom, click Go on the right. Now you have your user created. Click "Databases" at the top. Under Create database, type in "Epoch_Database" as the Database name then click Create. Now you have your database. You can go ahead and stop Apache from the XAMPP control panel, you dont need it enabled anymore. Inside your Server files, open up the SQL folder and copy "epoch.sql" to your Desktop. Open HeidySQL. As the session name in the top left, we will have it just named as "DayZ Server SQL" Hostname / IP should be "127.0.0.1". User should be "Epoch_User" Password is "password123" or whatever you specified in your user setup. Click "Save" at the bottom left. then click Open. On the left hand side, you should see "Epoch_Database" go ahead and double click it. It should say "Database: Epoch_Database" at the middle tab on top. Click the "Query" tab. You should be presented with a text box, just drag your "epoch.sql" from your desktop into that textbox. Click the blue Play button above the Query tab or press F9. It should start executing the SQL into your database. You might get a "3 Warnings" popup at the end, ignore that. Restart HeidySQL and double click your database on the left, you should see some tables created. http://i.imgur.com/xBknVUv.png Close HeidySQL. Take another deep breath. The hard part is now done, you are nearly finished with your server! Go to your desktop and open your DayZ Epoch Server folder. It should look something like this. http://i.imgur.com/CHeOg9o.png Open up your instance_11_Chernarus folder. Open "config.cfg" with Notepad++. Edit this file to your liking, and set a "passwordAdmin" value for you to be able to login as an admin from ingame. Add requiredSecureId = 2; under BattlEye = 1; This is to prevent the UID spoofing. At the bottom, change your difficulty="veteran"; to difficulty="regular"; Save and close. Open up "HiveExt.ini" with Notepad++. Scroll down to the [Database] section. Make sure Host = 127.0.0.1 Same with Database = Epoch_Database The same with Username = Epoch_User And finally, Password = password123 Save and close. Run DayZ_Epoch_instance_11_Chernarus.bat to start your server. (Optional) Open up "cmd" from your start menu and type ipconfig to get your server's ip. Put that into DayZ Commander as a favorite so you can connect easily. (Note) If your MySQL hosting is provided by your host, you can skip the MySQL setup part and not download XAMPP / Wamp and just use that info from your host. (Linux Note) If you are running a linux machine, and running Wine to allow you to run windows applications, please put "msvcp120.dll" & "msvcr120.dll" into your "DayZ Epoch Server" folder.   12. Hello! So I want to make a new Epoch/Overwatch server. I'm not sure if I want to make it on Arma 2 or Arma 3. On DayzLauncher I see that there are quite a bit of Epoch servers that are highly populated on the other hand Arma 3 servers on A3Launcher seem less populated. I'm not sure on what game it's worth to make it on. I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions you have for me. If you can vote on the poll as well.   13. Hello, I love playing the epoch mod for arma 2 but I have one problem. FPS! I have no problem playing any other games with no fps problem. Though when I play games like arma 2 or arma 3 My fps ranges from 10-30 on all low settings. I have talked to server owners ect about the problem and they tell me my cpu is not strong enough to run it. Though I have a 3.90 ghz cpu. I have tried everything from GPU acceleration to 1, lowered render in game and lowered quality but still bad fps. I have heard the engine is not quite optimized. After the dayz standalone update I can run it on max setting no problem, I have been told to get an intel cpu but I dont want to spend a fortune on something so stupid and pointless.   14. Hello, Today I was trying to enter a server that i´ve been playing. But for some reason whenever I enter the server a message apears to me saying "Session lost", and I´m kicked out of the server back to the menu. I tried everything: Verify Integrity of game cache of Arma 2 and Arma 2 OE; Unistall BattleEye; Reinstall BattleEye. Two years ago I built this computer with a Radeon HD 7950 and an AMD FX 4100. dayz was running how i expected (low ish fps) my cpu was bottlenecking my gpu. about a month ago I upgraded my cpu to the AMD FX 8350 thinking that I would get better fps in dayz. I did notice an increase but not what I was expecting, after upgrading my cpu I have been getting around 30-40 fps out in the open. in any town it is terrible, I am lucky if i get 15 fps. I am concerned about this because a cousin also built a computer at the same time with about the same performance parts, (Intel i5 3570k and GTX 660). my concern is that he gets 50-70 fps in the open and 30-50 in towns while I get only half that. thanks

    Hello folks, I was wondering if anyone has seen some sort of heli taxi script for a2 epoch. Around a year ago i use to play on a server and it had a heli taxi script that made a merlin go from Cherno > Klen > Bash > Stary > Cherno and this just repeated all the time with 2 minute stops at each destination. If anyone has seen a script like this or is willing to help a noob out that would be much appreciated.

  24. Hello, so recently I bought an Epoch server from DayZ.ST and I only got to the point of fixing the control panel options I never knew how to fix Scripts. As a matter of fact I'm a noob when it comes to creating and editing mission pbo's or any other in game files, due to the fact that I just don't know how too :( . So if anyone could get me a tutorial on how to setup my server from Start to Finish, that'd be great and please don't inform me that there are other topics in this forum like mine, because I don't care, and I already know! But yeah I'd like a very SIMPLE and NOOB FRIENDLY step by step tut on how to configure my server and its scripts, I DON'T CARE IF ITS VIDEO OR TYPED any will work fine :lol: . P.S please make sure your tutorial will work for the DayZ.ST servers because thats what kind've server I have. :P
