  1. I sure this is the correct way it works in Epoch, it's the same with building and Lockable doors.

It's a pretty bad thing when I'm not online if they can open a lockbox but are unable to close it. It's just stuck open for anyone to access until the server restarts or I hop online to close it(We've worked around this by having other group members always place lockboxes).

I can't see this being intentional...

Im pretty sure it a bug in-itself that if the group leader places no one else can access. I also think is is the same with doors.

I have not tested on BTK, but on other servers when I place lockable doors everyone in my group can lock & unlock them no problem. Maybe I've just been lucky with that though.

  2. 1. The server you were playing on. BTK Altis most recently, but I have tried & confirmed it on other servers aswell.

    2. What arma3 build and what Epoch build you are using. Latest both.

    3. What it was you were doing. Placing Lockbox while group leader & having friend access it.

    4. Is it repeatable. Yes.

Ok, so what I've found is that when the leader of a group(me) places a lockbox, my other group members can unlock it, but are unable to lock it again after that. I can unlock & lock it as per normal. From what I understand though, when the group leader places a lockbox, other group members should not be able to access it at all correct?

  3. So I started thinking about the whole "Swing" situation with the hatchet, and it occurred to me... What if, the Hatchet, was instead a Hatchet Handle, & the swing was then turned into a Hatchet Head? This would open up options for crafting a hatchet handle with chopped wood, & maybe even making Hatchet Heads only last for so many swings(ex. 1000 swings & the Hatchet Head will need to be replaced).

You could even combine this idea I found while searching:

& make a new item for sharpening your Hatchet Head, allowing you to reuse it? The Sledge Hammer could have a Sledge Hammer Head(permanent or breaking after time).

Just a random thought I had while watching a youtube video, lol. Take it or leave it. =P

  4. make it smaller in length. its too damn tall.

I kinda like that it's bigger than the old plot pole, but it would be nice if they were a little smaller. Maybe if they were only 1 story tall, but still pretty big in size?

  5. Running around looting today as usual I started to notice some fairly annoying issues with the current loot system. The way I understand it, as you are walking the loot system detects the direction you are moving & tries to spawn loot ahead of you. While this sounds good in theory, and works fairly well in groups, solo looting can be extremely tedious, & here's why:

The idea behind the system seems to assume your character will be walking in a straight line, but when actually playing this is very rarely the case in my experience. I usually run building to building taking back alleys where I can & trying to stay as invisible as possible. Also running back & forth inside buildings & up stairs to grab said loot seems to confuse the system as to what direction you are heading.

This has cause multiple instances where I've had to sit inside a building for up to 10 minutes waiting for the loot to actually spawn. In one particularly bad instance, I stayed at & searched the same barracks 4 times before the first piece of loot actually spawned. In another instance, I was providing overwatch for my friend as he looted what we call "Industrial Lane"(the main road heading north out of Kavala). After he finished looting roughly 3km of houses, warehouses, barracks, & more, he was frustrated at how little he had found. I had to explain to him that he was moving too fast for the loot system, & that he needed to wait for the loot to spawn, When I think about it though, I'd rather not have to worry about whether or not I'm "looting correctly" while I'm playing. It's kind of immersion breaking. :(

I'd love to give some ideas for a better loot system that isn't overly demanding for the server or client, but I have little knowledge of such things, & don't even fully understand how how the current system works. These are just some things that I noticed on my adventures in this awesome mod you guys have made! Hopefully this will be helpful & not a waste of your time.

Keep up the good work! :)

  6. I'm kind of torn on this subject...

I like the current spawn system because it makes it easier to find your friends(or even random people) to team up with. I play lone wolf, & 3x now I've found someone7 new to team up with because we respawned at the same time & just stated talking.

On the other hand... Random coast spawn makes more sense from a realism standpoint.... And an increasing spawn timer if you die too quickly could help prevent suicide spam.

  7. Confirmed. Guns works but it took me 100rnd to destroy one. :P

This explains why I have never seen anyone even trying for them... who wants to waste that much time/ammo? Krypto is pretty much useless anyway since anything actually important isn't going to be sold. I gave one about 10 whacks with a hatchet(finally found one after 25 hours playing) before saying "fuck it" & moving on...

  8. This is how I play with the current build, some experiences and tips from a few days so far on an official server. I ain't no expert.

Give the server a few mins after a reset before you start looting. Don't move to quickly or the 'loot bubble' won't keep up, if you can't find any loot you're moving too fast, recover your tracks. Driving around in a vehicle quickly from location to location you'll be lucky to find anything in houses.

I usually search the rubbish piles, bins, boxes and baskets first and then the houses to give the loot a chance to spawn on my location. Churches and chapels are very good locations to find main weapons cases. Travel from chapel to chapel. You'll find backpacks etc. in rubbish piles and generally speaking, clothing in wardrobes, food in fridges etc. Military bases are good, but again you might have to hang around for the loot to spawn. I find most vehicles 'out of town', go a kilometer or so out on the smaller flatter roads to find vehicles. Once you find one you have the means to find many more. I have often found several vehicles in the same vicinity.

The reeds are your friend, vehicle + reeds = instant storage and you can lock it for 30mins at a time. Vehicles hidden in reeds are very hard to see, even from above. So with several hidden vehicles around the map one can build up some serious temporary storage, note the coordinates ;). You can't store anything in a kart, but they're fast and stable on the road.

Suppressors are crucial for solo and so are the bigger calibre weapons and NVGs. Find some dark clothing, I start with a balaclava and shades. Sell vehicles to buy helis, weapons etc. aren't worth much.

Can't think of anything else that's particularly helpful apart from stealth and caution and to deposit most of what you're carrying before each looting session then you won't lose it if you get shot or blown up. Always lock your vehicle, even going into the trader to sell it...

    Good luck.

Good advice... I'll have to keep the loot bubble info in mind. I can get so focused on trying to loot quick & GTFO I bet I miss a lot that hasn't spawned yet. It's worth a try anyway, thanks.

  9. So apparently I'm the only one unable to find any tools... At all...?

I also seem to be unable to "squish" animals. I tried every button I could think of including "i" & "t", and noticed that when I try to rebind my inventory key to any other key it simply breaks my ability to "squish" trash piles, which works fine if I leave it as "i".

I stick to the areas on the fringe like the northeast or southeast, I got lucky once and found a boat which helped with looting, but while out on a run I came back to find it empty, don't know if it was a theft or a glitch,  why take stuff like ammo and not the boat?

I haven't found enough metal to make a jammer, but I have found hatchets, multi-tools etc.  Cars seem real rare, but food and water isn't a problem.  I keep 4 Empty Jar too keeps me hydrated and every place I find water I drink to top off and a single goat or chicken will add like 1250.

To make storage I mess with sappers until they blow and squish them I also hunt goats.  The Sapper seem to drop more pelts then goats. Silenced weapons are a loners friend.

Biggest problem I find as a lone player is traders, they tend to spawn together in the center and not where I normally am.  Between chem-lights and smoke canisters I can fill my inventory fast.

I would probably loot a vehicle & leave it. Vehicles draw too much attention imo, I usually stay out of them unless I'm trying to sell it quickly. I have no place to keep it safe anyway.

  10. At least you've been able to build something... Going on day 4 & 20 hours of gameplay, & never seen an axe or sledge. I'm finding plenty of materials, only thing I don't seem to find enough of are wipes, but tools... I'm starting to think tools are just a hoax & everyone's in on it... :(

  11. 15+ Hours lone wolf & not a single axe/sledge... I've gone to military, city, hobo shack... I'm about to give up.it's just not fun as lone wolf at the moment, one wrong move & you lost 15 hours of work since there's nowhere to store anything when you can't build...

Don't get me wrong, I expect playing solo to be hard. I wouldn't mind losing 2-3 hours of work from dying, but losing everything I've done over the past 3 days is just too much work for no reward. I can't even chance having some fun & doing some PvP, since there's too much at stake for me.
