I just installed this as well on my 1.0.5.1 server, but i'm having an issue that was mentioned several pages back (and i didn't see a fix for it...but i could be blind).  I get the menu options, and when i select a key to use, my character goes through the animation, but the keys don't change.

    Car A uses Red Key
    Car B uses Blue Key

    When i select Car A, and tell it to change to the Blue Key, the animation plays, and the Red Key goes into my backpack.  The Blue Key stays in my toolbelt, but the Blue Key will not unlock Car A.  I don't even get the lock/unlock option.  Works just fine on Car B.  I pull the Red Key out of my bag to my toolbelt, and i can now lock/unlock Car A.

    i know it's probably something stupid on my part, but i'm stumped...

    EDIT: i'm also getting the issue where claiming a vehicle does not add it to a key, and still locks the vehicle... :(

  2. okay, i'm lost...although, that's not very surprising.  i've gone through the instructions several times, and read through the thread, trying to figure out what the issue is.  At first, i was able to get it to load, although i wasn't able to tow anything (i tried with numerous vehicle combinations).  i shut down the server, and went through all the instructions again, to double check for missing semi-colons, and things like that, although i didn't see anything (i could very well be blind)...  After restarting the server, i'm getting stuck with a loading screen, and sounds of the beach, even though i logged out at Starry.

    i'm copying the contents of my RPT file below, because it won't let me upload it for some reason...i can see where it lists a few errors, but i just started working on this stuff a short while ago, and i'm still an idiot when it comes to most of it.  Any help would be most appreciated.

  3. i'm having an issue getting the HUD to show up as well...i have the following in my descriptions.ext:

    aiKills = 1;
    diagRadio = 1;

    i'm also having the same issue as tkdmaster with lifted items being detached.  i double-checked to make sure i wasn't accidentally pressing the button to detach.  It seems to happen if i go over 150ft up...

  4. i'm having the same (or at least similar) issue.  i cannot get my custom loadout to work on a fresh install, even though it worked perfectly before.  i even tried cutting and pasting what Fully posted above, and i still get the default loadout (painkiller, bandage, and i think a flashlight).

    the only difference between this install, and the previous is that this install has battleye enabled.  can i not have custom loadouts with battleye?  or, possibly, should i comment out the anti hack line in my init.sqf?  i'm not sure if the anti hack stuff, or battleye would be what's preventing it, and i'd rather not disable it, if i don't have to...

Should i do the same with dayz_server.pbo, or is this just a concern for dayz_code.pbo?  For example, in thread about custom loadouts, it wants me to make edits to dayz_server\compile\server_playerSetup.sqf...  Should i make those edits, and repack the pbo, or should i use the custom compiles.sqf method?

    i was having similar issues.  i think what fixed it for me was reinstalling A2, A2:OA, and DayZ in steam, one at a time, and while each was installing i had to Right Click on the game, go to Properties, Updates, and set the option to Do Not Update.  After that, i opened each one up, let it load to the main menu, then closed it.  After that, i stopped getting the "older version" message...i think :P

    second question...where do i find the sqf files, like trade_any_vehicle.sqf, trade_any_boat.sqf, etc. referenced by piggd in about using UID's to lock/unlock vehicles?

  8. Okay, this is going to sound like a stupid question, i'm sure, but where are the mission pbo's?  Just about every addon i'd like to use asks me to unpack my mission pbo file, but i don't see one where they're telling me to look:

     

     

    unpack your MPMissions/Your_Mission.pbo, and open the resulting folder.

     


    Note: "Your_Mission.pbo" is a placeholder name. Your mission might be called "DayZ_Epoch_11.Chernarus", "DayZ_Epoch_13.Tavi", or "dayz_mission" depending on hosting and chosen map.

     

    I followed the get my server up and running (finally), but when i look in \EpochServer\MPMissions\DayZ_Epoch_11.Chernarus\ i only see the ca folder, sqf, sqm, etc...  Which pbo am i supposed to be unpacking?

  9. Well...i started over from scratch for either the 4th or 5th time...and it works.  As far as i can tell, i did everything exactly the same, each and every time...so i have no idea what i was doing wrong...

  10. it wouldn't let me uncheck the mods in the expansions tab. 

    i am currently starting over from scratch...again.  there's got to be something i'm missing, either a step i missed, or a file that didn't overwrite properly...something.  i see lots of 1.8.0.3/112555 servers listed in commander, so i know it's possible...it's just making me feel pretty stupid right now :wacko:

  11. *sigh*, no good.  i reinstalled the server from scratch again, and although i'm not getting the original error, but i'm getting numerous "No Entry" errors, "Cannot open object" errors, and "authentication timeout" every time i try to connect...  i even went so far as to copy over every pbo, and bisign file i could find, starting with the arma2 folder, then the a2:oa folder, over to the epoch server addons folder...just for grins and giggles.  still can't get into my own server...

  12. Hopefully, i've given enough information...i tried to think of everything that might be needed, and copy everything down as exactly as i could.  If anybody else has any suggestions, i'd be ever so grateful.  i'm stuck...

     

    EDIT:  i'm not sure if this will fix it, because i've already started the server install from scratch again, but while i was verifying my game cache files in steam, i noticed that A2:OA had an option in the beta tab to use 1.62, instead of 1.63.  After switching to 1.62, and launching the game, the internet game list actually populates.  It hadn't before now, but i didn't give it any thought since i was either trying to connect to mine via LAN, or another server via DC....

    i'll update again after i get through the server reinstall

     

    EDIT2: *sigh* i'm so confused right now.  It says i'm using 1.62 client, but it won't let me connect to 1.62 servers...however, it lets me connect to 1.63 servers...ugh

  13. Hmm...so, i poked around a bit and noticed that my Arma2OA common folder didn't have any files starting with "Chernarus"My Arma2 addons folder did have it, as well as a bunch of the same files, so i copied the contents of my arma2 addons folder into my arma2 OA common folder.

    Now, when starting the game, i get "Addon 'CAMisc_fix_Str' requires addon 'CAStructuresHouse_A_Office01'".  Once the game loads, i get "No Entry 'bin\config.bin/CfgVehicles/Citizen1.scope'.", however, it DOES let me get through to the mission menu...  After that, i get "Cannot load texture ca\characters2\usmc\data\forcerecon_gear_co.paa.", and then it kicks me back out to the server selection screen...

    My server console then goes absolutely crazy, streaming through a list of i'm not sure what...but it mentions vehiclesand silver bars, and backpacks, and that's all i could catch...it's still going, and it's too fast to read :P

    I'll wait until it's done, and try connecting again...

     

    EDIT "Cannot open object ca\wheeled2\lada\lada.p3d"...clicking continue looks like it's going to load, but then i get Authetication Timeout.  Trying again gets me a new "You cannot play/edit" error...this time  for ca_communityconfigurationproject_e_editor_addedallweaponslotsinfantryvariants...and then another Auth Timeout

Double-Checked to make sure i was.  First, i get the "Addon 'sauerland' requires addon 'Chernarus'" message, then after the game loads, i get "No entry 'bin\config.bin/CfgWorlds/Chernarus.ilsPosition'.", and when i try to connect, i get the "You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependant on downloadable content that has been deleted.chernarus" error.

    ...and just to be absolutely certain, the top of my game window says "ArmA 2 OA "ArmA2OA.exe" -window -mod=@DayZ_Epoch;"

So, i've spent the past couple of days wandering around various forums, trying to find instructions on installing an Epoch server for my son and i to play on.  After numerous forum posts claiming to have the easiest instructions, and various youtube videos claiming the same (none of which were easy), i was beating my head against the various walls, trying to figure out what i'm doing wrong.  "It can't be that difficult...you've set up numerous game servers before", i thought.

    Then i found this site, and the which turned out to be the easiest, and most straight forward one i've found yet.  So, i completely deleted all the work i'd done previously, as well as my Arma2/Dayz installs, wanting to start completely from scratch.

     

    I followed the directions exactly, double checking after each step, and everything seemed to be going swimmingly.  Then, after trying to connect to the server i just finished setting up, i get the following:

    I found a post saying the bikey file needed updated, and even though i downloaded all the files from the previously mentioned forum post, i went ahead and downloaded it again, and copied the file over.  The error remains...
