Virtualized server install

salival

Question

Any of you guys virtualize your epoch server?

Mines running under a FreeBSD host using a  virtualized windows 7 install of epoch 1.0.6

Wondering if anyone has any performance tuning tips for the virtualized install or if there's something better than windows 7 to be using (would I gain anything from a server based os?)

i have read Arma2 don't work fine on VM, low performance as real based os. I use Proxmox 3.4 with WS 2008 VM and everything is ok.

I have it working but I find server FPS to fluctuate a large amount, some restarts it will be 50 solid with 3-4 people on then with 1 person on it could be 15-30.

I'm giving the VM 8 cpus and 4gb of ram (arma server doesn't use much)

There no need 8 CPU, i use 4, 2 for Arma 2 and 2 for mysql and others services. Server is stable, only with missions cps become low.

Benchmarking inside the VM showed passing 8 cpus to the VM gave me the most performance, I'm trying to test everything against everything and so far 8cpus has given me the most performance.
