You can also define blacklists in all the various AI packs where AI are not allowed to spawn.  If you create a 800m blacklist area around the spawn traders then you shouldn't have that problem.  Most AI are limited in sight to around 600m, so that will give you a 200m buffer zone just to be safe, which when you include hills and other obstacles in between, that should be more than enough room.  What's more, a couple days ago I noticed in the dev branch changelog for Arma that they have limited AI line of sight to object view distance, which means that AI will no longer be able to see through hills, trees and buildings.  Should solve a lot of such problems.
