This sounds alot like "If you don't play by my rules I'm taking my ball and going home!" lol

At least he's drawing attention to his cause, even if we do not agree.

Whatever other server admins do on their server is really none of anyone's business.

It has zero effect on me, because anyone that plays on those servers wouldn't last five minutes on mine. lol

I personal would never have any pay to win or any type of subscriber perks on my server.

You suffer like everyone else lol

btw.. what's with all this new neckbeardy elitest bs I see showing up here in epoch?

I don't remember it ever being like that. I know some noobs can be frustrating but this whole "if you don't know this you shouldn't be an admin" attitude really isn't fitting the epoch community as I knew it.

Even Epoch didn't get here magically overnight. I guarantee they've run into things they don't know, but work through it.

I could see where some admins never had to edit a host file. I've only had to change it maybe a dozen times out of all my game servers and projects over the years.

We ALL knew nothing at one time, and we ALL learned by research and asking questions.

You wont make them better admins, by being rude. It's just disappointing to see.

Thank you M3Editor2 for maybe the simplest solution for this issue. I just edited in notepad++ like everything else, but this is probably the quickest and easiest.

Run this is a cmd window with admin rights.

ECHO 127.0.0.1 www.ibattle.org>>"%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts"
ECHO 127.0.0.1 ibattle.org>>"%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts"

I'd contacted my GSP (GTX Gaming) for support prior to reading this thread regarding BEC not working.

After reading this thread, and nulls post on BI forums, I sent my GSP the link and explained BEC had been terminated.

The response I got was "I would do a full reinstall as there is obviously some problems here" :D

Gotta love GTX Gaming. I have already contacted Vert Hosting. I'll let you guys know what they say.

Typical GTX response. They respond quickly, but really provide no solution other than "reinstall". We have vert, and they rarely respond same day... but they do fix the issue.

I guess you pick the lesser of the two evils ...

The rented boxes we have are full VM machines with full control; editing the hosts file there is easy, but I guess servers hosted at other sites with only a web-interface might run into issues. I also can imagine that they're not willing to change their hosts files on their root servers . Meh.

Looks like Vert Hosting has fixed the issue with a work around:

No it means they edited the hosts file like everyone else, the hosts file acts as a sort of DNS system, if you buy a web domain you can instanly access it rather than wait for your local ISP to update by changing it.

It's also done when cracking copyrighted programs to stop them dialing home when activating using a keygen .... or so i've been told

Editing the hosts file IS a workaround.

BEC seems to be working on one of my A2 servers and my A3 server now. Strange.

I sent Vert the fix hours ago...

Thank you for notifying us of this - we've implemented the host file redirect across all nodes.

You may need to restart your server for this to take effect.

Regards,
