Gobs
So, in game there are mostly quartz radios and several different gems. In the VR arsenal, there are radios for every gem type. I imagine that each radio type is its own frequency, but is there a way to change the crystals in game? Did a forum search for "radio" and didn't come up with anything. jay8454
Nic
I have not tried myself, but I know that there are many different gems: Topaz Onyx Sapphire Amethyst Emerald Citrine Ruby Quartz Jade Garnet And I know I saw somewhere that you could craft the different radios using the gems and a regular radio, although I am not sure if this has been implemented yet. Looking into the mod files, there appears to be 10 different radios, so if it is not already in, being able to craft the different radios should be coming soon. Tywin
Ok i just tried this and you can only make one type of radio; a Garnet one.. just have your radio in your bag then double click on it.. I had also Citrine and Sapphire in my bag so was unable to actually craft anything, but the ingredient required were 1 Garnet and 1 Radio. jay8454
Gobs
I believe that it actually follows a tiered system: so after a garnet, you can craft a garnet radio into a (let's say) obsidian one. Like Tywin, I didn't have a garnet to test, but this makes the most sense with the info I now have.

Santa
I crafted a garnet radio, then upgraded into Amethyst and then into a blue one (can't recall names). When u upgrade a radio, it changes channel. So when I had my Amethyst radio, I was the onlyone in a channel. As for now, I don't see any real use for upgrading radios. CrazyMike
The use for upgrading radios is for an aliance chat or when two groups wish to talk to each othre. Mind you someone could be peering into that particular channel... but ask around and you will find people with that particular radio is rare. At least until more people figure it out.
