Strange Hooded Man? Other Deadly NPC Creatures?

Hi all,

 

I recorded an encounter with a strange being that is changing the survival of the world of Arma 3 Epoch. The video is not very action packed, but through out the video I toy with the mechanics of this strange creature. (See the video description for quick look at mechanics of the hooded man). Let me know what you have found as far as creatures or npcs and what you have found out about them!

It's called a cultist. They've been in the alpha since release bro. lol There are also Sappers and UAV drones currently. All pretty deadly in their own ways.

Thank you, he was a creepy S.O.B. for sure. It took about 3 magazines from my 1911 to drop him. What are the sappers?

Sappers are frustrated people who want to give you a hug, But they have slight issue, This "issue" causes them to get angry in such a way all their built up rage comes out in 1 go.

The cultist are fun the other night I saw someone get chased through town by one casting spells at the guy, funny to spectate till you're on the receiving end where it turns around and chases you...

My mate got a fright by a cultists, and his wife heard him saying so on teamspeak as she came in from work, so she sneaked up behind him and put her hand on his shoulder. He Fucking screamed down the mic....I couldn't stop laughing. Wish it was recorded.

There are drones as well that will spawn 3 soldier that are pretty tuff to beat as well.

I only experienced the Sappers before the asshole hackers took over. Would have like to see the other 2. Got something to look forward to when it goes live again.

The sappers are the ones that worry me. They have a knack for wandering to you when you're not paying attention.

I have maybe 60-70 hours of epoch time and have only met one of the cultist. I have seen many of the drones, i just shoot them down before they see me to avoid the soldiers. But I must admit that the only things that scares me is the evil devil dogs from hell, they sound so friendly but they kill you at the first sniff

Or in my friend's case, break your legs and leave you to rot..... Truly the most evil of all the creatures.

I have to give the team credit on these things. I get goosebumps and chills everytime I have one around me. They have only come at dark, and I believe only with a +3 soil stat.

 

They stand far back and just stare at you for awhile. They slowly approach in short walk/wait segments, if you move, they move. Try to run, turn around and they are in your face. The hair on my neck stands when they are near me. And yeah they can take awhile to put down. Usually I run out of ammo and just want them to end it asap lol

I've been playing Epoch for the last 2 months or so and have never seen a Cultist.  Are they working currently?  What's the best way to get them to spawn?

Cultists, Devil Dogs ?

Whatever happened to them ?, I heard there were tameable dogs too, ahh I think this is all paradelia and mass histeria.

I see this slipped in at the last minute before 0.3.3 was pushed:

[Fixed] Cultist spawning is now fixed.

So it looks live I've never seen a cultist until I fire up the game this evening.  :-)

Dogs have had a bit of work on them too, next  release hopefully. Currently taming is broken, or at least very difficult. also updated some behaviour.

Do they spawn only for freshspawns, or all people? Haven't seen them yet, though haven't been playing during the night a lot either. Also do they still spawn in night only?

The one I encountered was when I was not a fresh spawn and I have them spawning in the daytime because we are a daytime server it just depends how server owners want to run them.

Yes I knew they had taming problems at least I could never tame them but I look forward to having them working, I have always thought that being able to buy a hunting dog from the traders would be good but don't know if that is even possible though.
