Hello all,

I have a chernarus  opoch server. for some reason unknown to me the wai missions dont give humanity.  nothing in the rpt on both sides. Any ideal where to look. I did check the config file in wai and it is set to true (when you kill ai you get humanity) the value is set at 50

RESOLVED

Hi all - need some help with debugging Wicked AI 2.2 problem.

I've had Wicked AI installed on my server for quite some time... and it has been running fine till recently... I started trying to change the config so it will spawn more Bandit Missions than Hero Missions because i have many more hero players.

I also recently installed ESSV.

Currently WAI starts spawning missions but after about the first 3-4 missions it simply stops...spawning. I turned on debug - which i've attached my log file here. There are no errors but it seems to just simply go to sleep....  what is curious when i look up in the log on the last mission it spawns it writes series of error messages and what appears to be running missions....   so it appears that as a mission completes it doesn't have a "slot" to start a new mission???? Below i also attached WAI config file.... any assistance would be appreciated... my eyes are just not seeing the issue.

@ccu2401 The reason missions dont spawn is because one of the missions is most likely glitched, wont clear. Others will fail to start until that one clears up. Another reason why missions wont spawn, if the SERVER FPS, not client, is bellow 5 FPS, no missions will spawn.

As for the para drop AI, i dont think they are part of the "completion" of the mission. I've cleared missions and started looting the box, to have the mission call in air support on top of me.

One of the reasons why sometimes missions wont clear is because of the way the epoch handles the removal of backpacks on the AIs. Basically when it cleans the mission, it has an issue with removing the backpack.

The only way to fix this properly was a epoch update. A minor issue by the devs. It has been fixed in the new update 1.0.6

And it seems the backpack removal issue only happens when there is lots of people on the server and i start noticing a bit of lag.

Problem description
I've installed an Epoch Server on a virtualized instance of Windows 10 (Under a Proxmox VM), and Wicked AI does not appear to work, despite numerous tries and attempts to fix it.

What I have tried so far
- In config file, changed "[] ExecVM..." to "ExecVM...", and reverted this change several times
- Attempted to install DZMS and DZAI, with and without WAI
- Starting with both clean dayz_server.pbo and DayZ_Epoch_11.Chernarus
- Tried both with admin plugin and with a clean server

Problem description
I've installed an Epoch Server on a virtualized instance of Windows 10 (Under a Proxmox VM), and Wicked AI does not appear to work, despite numerous tries and attempts to fix it.

What I have tried so far
- In config file, changed "[] ExecVM..." to "ExecVM...", and reverted this change several times
- Attempted to install DZMS and DZAI, with and without WAI
- Starting with both clean dayz_server.pbo and DayZ_Epoch_11.Chernarus
- Tried both with admin plugin and with a clean server

server_monitor.sqf is under:

another thing.. are you sure you have only one server_monitor.sqf?  cuz for example plot4life take out of the pbo.. the server_monitor.sqf

I don't believe so, the only other mod I have installed is the Admin Tools mod, which stores all its files in the mission PBO.

If you want to see your server FPS, open the chat and type "#login PASSWORD" Without the quotes. PASSWORD being your server admin password

Then type "#monitor 5" This will show you the server FPS every 5 seconds. Client and server FPS arnt the same.

to logout type #logout.

^^^ This method will allow you to stop wondering if that could be the issue lol... process of elimination lol

If you installed it before the admin tools, then thats out of the way as a possibility too. (i know infistar had issues at one point)

There isnt much to getting WAI to work. Its as simple as it gets. (not saying your stupid. its arma, anything is possible here lol)

So my guess is that you are on a host, and maybe the path is incorrect.

Look in your server_monitor.sqf for other paths, see if they are all the same

as in  \z\addons\dayz_server......

EDIT: paths should be correct, as i just noticed your very first post, you are on a virtual box.  Soooo the host is out of the way too.

@theduke Thanks for the comprehensive post; I've followed a few of your suggestions. The first of what I attempted to fix was removing the "Expansion\beta" from the server .bat, which resulted in some different behavior, notably the server connecting to the Steam listening servers, opposed to when it was trying to contact the GameSpy servers with that snippet included in the file. I checked the server FPS before this fix, and it was around 48-50; I didn't suspect my hardware to be the issue. I've installed your WAI folder you attached, packed it with two different .pbo managers, and it's still not loading. A behavior I did notice between the two .pbo managers (cpbo and PBO Manager) was the differing file size and checksums between both dayz_server.pbo files, created from the same folder. While I'm not sure this is the cause, it is unusual. I'm very confused as to why WAI is not working, and any help is appreciated.

I think he meant hte init in the mission file.

I think its odd thats its noit running at all. im wondering if it has anything to do with the virtual box. I have a VM also, but i dont use it as my test servers....

when i got home tonight from work ill see what else it could be

I was curious about this myself, while I don't have much of a clue regarding the mechanics of the Arma engine, the "ExecVM" in the config files led me to wonder if virtualization the server is causing an issue. I don't believe I can pass any VM technologies/necessary protocols (such as Intel VT-x) through to an individual VM, so if Arma is trying to launch a "VM", it would not be able to do so. Unfortunately I don't have any hardware to test this on (the DayZ server is on a physical server with many other VMs for other purposes).

I added the suggested line to MPMissions/DayZ_Epoch_11.Chernarus.pbo/init.sqf; the error I had was in-game, reading "Script z\addons\dayz_server\system\server_monitor.sqf not found", with WAI still not loading in. I tried copying dayz_server.pbo into <root server folder>/AddOns, and this resulted in significantly longer load times (likely unrelated), both server and client-side, and the same error message. There is absolutely nothing in the .rpt file regarding WAI initializing, or even being recognized by the server.

 

Side note: after these changes, the server VM is hitting the drive much harder than previously, and network/CPU traffic is higher; there is also a lot in the .rpt log regarding vehicles such as the Lada, UAZ, SUV, ambulance, and HMMVW, which may be related to WAI, as I've seen these kinds of vehicles at missions on other servers before. While purely speculative, I'll keep the server running to see if anything changes. Thanks for all the help.

Guys, please refer back to the instructions which are quite clear at the beginning of this post. Read them again and carefully and you'll quickly see where you're going wrong.

I'm not going to re-write them here, as i would just be duping what's already written up and especially as I'm on my phone.

@ReDBaroN I followed the instructions as per the GitHub page, which seem to be identical to those at the top of this post. My dayz_server.pbo is under root/@DayZ_Epoch_Server/addons/dayz_server.pbo, which appears to be the correct path. I'm fairly certain I followed the instructions correctly (multiple attempts were made as well, with clean installs), and while I'm not ruling out the possibility of an install error, it seems to be relatively unlikely at this point.

@Bluethulhu  i ask you for this line in init.sqf cuz the line define the path to where you take your server_monitor.sqf.

So if u dont have it: (DONT  ADD THE LINE IF U DONT FIND IT)

_serverMonitor =     [] execVM "\z\addons\dayz_server\system\server_monitor.sqf";

then you are calling the server_monitor.sqf from other place and the changes for WAI must be in this other server_monitor.sqf

so try again in your init.sqf  only looking for "server_monitor.sqf"

This has happened to me before. it was due to a corrupted prefix when i repacked my server PBO.

Just for shits n giggles try downloading the default server pbo again. And use that prefix.
