The simple way of explaining this is that the dll has referenced a protected memory unit or null value in no-mans-land. In this case it is a protected memory unit as I believe no-mans-land protection ends at 0000FFFF

 

Post the minidump file in 

instance_11_Chernarus\arma2oaserver.mdmp

 

 

Try updating your direct x. This can sometimes cause a memory access problem if it is not up to date.

 Yes thats what I did, I installed this version, Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 -vcredist_x86.exe and it kept chashing but have now installed the 2o10 one and sever has been running for over an hour now so fingers crossed this has fixed it By downloading 2010 one too. as per Darth_Rogue's suggestion THANKS

I ran a COMMAND PROMPT scan of sfc /scannow and it found errors but the logs indicated negitive results on that last ntdll.dll

Pertaining to the Epoch README.txt
1. First install/update your Visual C++ x86 Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784 The file is called "vcredist_x86.exe".

2. Download both client and server files and extract to the root "Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead" folder. Example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead".
Important Note: On some Windows systems you may need to "UnBlock" the dll files. Right-click the file, Properties and click "Unblock".
The "UnBlock" part is a little vague, all I could figue on doing is to
go to "Properties" to "Advanced" to "Allow this file to have contents indexed in addition to file properties"

 

For the record the server was rock solid till the addition to the mod line call, I tried the line 2 different ways the first offered and INSTANT crash when I logged in it never made it passed the mission viewing screen.

Second one lasted longer and worked for a time till I took it down as it seemed stable, BUT!, I added infiSTAR and it reverted to doing the same thing, I took infiSTAR out and THE SAME THING!@
CRASH CRASH CRASH.

 

As for the C++ 2013 I made sure that I uninstalled it and REBOOTED, than I installed it and REBOOTED. That should have been just as good as a regedit.

Nothing I have done has fixed this problem. :o

1 week!, and same result all negative...

 

I am starting to thing is maybe the last A2OA patch mucking it up. But I am no programer, or scripter :wub:

My heroes have always been scripters!



 

So any [HELP] on this [EPOCH SERVER CRASHING] would be greatly appreciated ^_^ !

What issues are you talking about?

I've always run Server 2003 or Server 2008 up until a couple months ago.  We upgraded to a new dedi box and I installed Windows Server 2012 on it.  No matter what I did Arma would not talk to the hive.  Everything was set up right....I'm absolutely positive.  Also had some crashing here and there too.  So I wiped the box and rolled back to Server 2008 and it's ran like a charm since.

Win 7 SP1 64bit (64bits of regret! :unsure: ).

 

It should run fine on Windows 7.  I have a test server on my home machine that I use to try out new scripts and updates and such and I've never had an issue.  As someone else just mentioned above, keep in mind that Steam is not required to be online to run the server app.  So if you're not running an Arma 2 OA client on the same box as the server is on then you can shut down Steam.  Also, try right clicking on the arma2oaserver.exe and go into the properties.  Select it to be always run as Administrator.  It could be a permissions issue.

 

Also, uninstall the x64 versions of the C++ distros.  They are not required and could be causing conflicts.  Arma2oaserver is a 32 bit (x86) app, so the 64 bit (x64) versions are not needed.

 

As to the unblock issue, if you right click on a given file and go to "Properties", if the file is blocked it will have a button towards the bottom right of the properties window that says "Unblock".  I've had to do that before for some things, but if you get the C++ distros from Microsoft that generally doesn't happen since they use a trusted installer program to install them.

be doing all that after my YRC shift today.

The x64's (uninstalling) are the only thing I have not tried and I noticed the "Change setting for all users" button in the compatibility tab. I'll be testing that too, checking the box for the "Privilege Level" to "Run this program as an admin".

Ok, did delete ALL the C++ x64's  rebooted, I have made the armaOAServer.exe admin.

Well... it lasted a little longer and crashes a little less I did the admin thing with BEC too, it seemed a little more stable and more random.

Still is pretty damn depressing though.

I fixed it, YES!, FINALLY!

 

The crashing was related to the way Winblows assigns viral memory.

I have a really descent system with 4 drives.

3.33 Mhz CPU

16 GB RAM

OS on an SSD

 

So as you see I have plenty of hardware.

 

My friend found me a link "video" that pointed me to the dll folder found inside the Root is the server, it would also be found inside everyone game root folder. It contains 4 .dlls.

tcmalloc_bi.dll

If no allocator dll is found, functions _aligned_malloc/ _aligned_free (using Windows Heap functions) are used as a fallback. Important note: Windows 7 allocator seems to be quite good, and it may therefore make sense for some users to delete all custom allocators on Windows 7 or newer).>

You can select an allocator by deleting other allocators from the dll folder or via Command line.

===Commandline parameter===

You can specify a particular allocator from a command line, like:

(dll directory and extension are appended automatically, the allocator must not be located in other directory and its name must not contain any dots before the .dll extension)

===Dedicated server===

You can specify allocator for Windows dedicated server the same way as for client binary, but expected performance gain is minimal, because of low concurrency of the dedicated server code compared to a client.

Linux server uses allocator provided by operating system. There are NO plans to allow its customization.

I was always afraid of touching these before, but as I took each out one at a time and ran the server and got random crashing still each time the error would point to the next dll till I had all 4 removed.

After I had removed ALL four I still got crashing.

So I ended up adding manually more virtual memory and not letting winblows do it anymore. I haven't had to do this since Winblows Xtra Problems.

I like my OS's these are my pet names for them.

To tax the server I have WAI, and DZMS running on it too.

The server and my game have ran 8 hours and still running, RPT yields no out of the ordinary errors.

 

P.S. Arma 2 OA it self plays and even looks better too! All the text in game is crisp clear and sharp.

Congrats!!  

 

 

Which memory allocator did you wind up keeping?  tbb4malloc is default.  You can also use "-malloc=system" in your server startup line parameters to use the Windows memory manager, which also usually has decent performance improvements.

Well, I spoke to soon... I added custom loot and it crash and the whole thing started all over again.

I took out all the 4 .dlls ONE AT A TIME and the error recursed to the next .dll.
I read the readme.txt pertaining to server did not understand a hole lot of it....
I ramped up the virtual mem on all drives 2000-8000
I added lines to my batch file...

I made EVERYTHING admin...
I unblocked any and ALL .dlls

10 times installing yields the same result play for a bit than the server crashes and crashes and most time you can't lobby in before a crash.
I compair it to a piece it toilet paper getting a little wet...1 drop does it it just takes time after the PC restart to make the whole thing wet and you break through.

 

 

After REREADING the .dll readme again I am trying tbb4malloc.dll

so I made my start bat like this

Hello fellow Minnesotan!  :)  If you're looking for a stability test I'd make the restart windows longer, like say at least 3 hours.  You may want to also reduce the maxMem command to around 3072.  I don't know how much memory you have in your server box but you don't want the Arma server eating all your memory.  What's more, since the arma2oaserver.exe is a 32 bit app it can't use more than 3.25GB of memory anyways, and if it tries it will crash.  Interestingly enough, if you check your server's memory consumption that may be a cause for the crashing.  If you have a script that's causing a memory leak it could cause the memory usage to climb until the server maxes out at 3.25GB and crashes.  I've ran a couple building addons before that created that same problem.

My Ma says that the weather has been mild there! So, it sounds as though I will only be running this no more than a vanilla overpoch..

Along with the lowering the 8K to 3072 I will be trying each malloc and bat-ting it up. The PC's RAM is 16GB.

The server as of now seems to be eating  158,876K = 158.xxx = .15 GBs.

That would totally be a bumber for me if I can make my building scripts :(

I don't understand why a server could not be hosted on a local machine that's what Arma 2 was all about.
