    A concerned Epoch fan posted info on both of the Epoch subreddits about some Australian kid who's making a plugin for Rust and launching a server next month using the Epoch name and (from a what I saw in the official video) many of its concepts. As the Epoch crew doesn't often post on reddit and I couldn't find a ready way to PM you guys, I thought you all might want to know what's going on so you can deal with any possible shenanigans.

    RimBlock, If your concern is with something you have added to A2 DayZ Epoch or released using DayZ Mod or DayZ Epoch assets it would fall under the DayZ DML license. Per this license I do not think monetization is even possible  (Noncommercial - You may not use this material for any commercial purposes) and considering the countless people that contributed to DayZ Mod and DayZ Epoch it would not be remotely possible to get permission from everyone. The only way I can see that happening is from BI in the form of a license change.
     
    Currently per our license for A3 Epoch the same is true (NonCommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes). We do have the rights to make changes or offer additional licenses should we choose to do so. Our team all agreed to release our work under (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) - http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ during development. If any changes are to be made to our license we will get the approval from everyone on the team.

    Please provide a scenario in which someone should be able to sell something that doesn't give a player an unfair advantage.
    Try to be realistic and consider what a player would actually like to purchase.

    Looking back on all of the donator shops that we've seen. none of it has ever been cosmetic and has always offered items that would normally take a regular player a fair bit of time to obtain.

    I know we don't chime in as often on subjects like this, but I'll try to clarify any direct questions with as vague a response as I'm permitted. :3
    We're super busy constantly working on new features, tightening up game-play mechanics and roping it all in to get something as well rounded as possible for the upcoming alpha test.

    I'm sure you'd rather us dedicate our time to putting in work than playing hokey pokey on the forums.  I'm not entirely sure what the focus of this thread is, but I'll take a stab at trying to humor it. 
    We don't intend to skew the overall gameplay in any particular direction; we're trying to create a scenario where the player can choose what kind of experience they would like to have.

    That being said, player interaction clearly drives the game.  We have some interesting solutions to help maintain balance in player combat, adhering to the risk/reward adage.

    I can't really say much more, but have faith folks; shit's starting to get real.

    Currently nothing to do with Epoch (A2 / A3) has permission to be sold or be provided as perks for donators.  This is true whether the items are available without paying or not.
     
    Bases built using Epoch items are covered in the above statement.  The ability to make them indestructible is also included. 
     
    Only BIS assets are covered by the new rules.  Everything else (models/objects, scripts, ingame mechanics (like currency) ) are only allowed for monetization with the express permission of the creator(s) (this, in the case of Epoch includes all the projects contributors and not just the Epoch dev team).
     
    If any servers are not compliant, BIS have warned that they will investigate and take action (if found non-compliant) which could include legal and technical methods (no details on what they may be that I have yet seen).  BIS have also not stated how quickly they will investigate and going by historical evidence many are dubious as to whether they will actually do anything.
