You can still use TADST, you just have to check the "Launch as is" box. TADST overwrites the config and does not correctly add a few lines concerning the HC.
I thought that was covered elsewhere in this post. Perhaps its in another one. Thus my always asking if someone is using TADST.

Its written about often in the BIS forums. For the ease of switching and starting up Chernarus and Altis servers during testing, I still use TADST for my home Dev servers. But I just don't see using it on a dedicated server. Too many other options available.

And iirc, its not recommended to run FUMS and A3EAI on the same HC. Also, iirc, one should be started before the other. (Though, I could be way off base on both comments, as I've not kept up with the latest developments on either of items.)

Unless of course the A3 Launcher uses different files than your server. Chernarus is a case in point...Still don't have any answer for that.

So I will put in my experiences here...
1st Host: Survival Servers (managed), let's just say that this relationship only lasted 24 hours as I could not even get the vanilla server to start and run properly.

2nd Host: VILayer (managed), at first they were pretty good. Then there was the Arma3 update and the Epoch update that happened.... They were unresponsive to tickets and when they finally did respond I had to direct them to where the updated Epoch server files were.. I mean lmgtfy. Took them 13 hours to update after I sent them the info. Smh......

3rd and current host: NFO servers (unmanaged).
These guys are AWESOME. The longest I have ever had to wait for a response to a ticket is 4 minutes... AMAZING!!!!! Great prices and performance. They have been very accomodating and they really know their business. I could not be happier.

    Yes.
There are a couple of ways: Start up the Arma Launcher first. Then start the server. Then you can start up Arma (Epoch) via the Arma Launcher and join the server.  (NOTE:  This isn't the A3 Launcher, I'm talking about the stock Arma Launcher)
    Or:
Start up the game. Start the server. Join the server.

You just have to have the game running first.
You do NOT need another account. Never have. (Surely this was said tongue in cheek.?)

All that I need I can made myself. :)Simple way, but not tested well:
    1. rename CfgPricing.hpp -> HSPricing.hpp
    2. Change link to file in description.ext
    3. Change link in tradermenu.sqf like
    _config = "HSPricing" call EPOCH_returnConfig;
    4. Change in renamed HSPricing.hpp class CfgPricing -> HSPricing

Common traders selling and buying according to your server settings, blackmarket works with higher taxes.
    Maybe somebody need this.

Breaking not only the hoarder mentality, but also the "give it to me now" sentiment are both issues, imo.  I realize that there are (at least) two schools of thought on what makes  a good gaming experience in Epoch/DayZ.  I mention DayZ because that is from where I found Epoch. Survival (from zombies and pvp) and in particular finding/crafting just enough to eek out a meager existence created the ambience that I found compelling.  Working hard to find/craft loot made it all the more valuable and gave one the sense of "I've worked hard and I"ve earned every bit of what I've built/collected. I need to be careful."  Then along came Overpoch. Loot galore, weapons everywhere and yet still the need to hoard.  And, oh, the cries of "Admin, I just died. Can you teleport me back to my body?"

But I digress and am wandering off the OP. I'd like to see the trend of individual server configurability continue.  Added content would be superb. Though I know this isn't an Epoch issue, an easier method of joining servers playing different maps would be a dream (not to mention more maps).  A guy can dream can't he.....

I'm looking forward to 0.4 a great deal! One reason being that I'm growing tired of GTA: Loading Simulator and also that CBA compatibility was penciled in for 0.4! (Although I'm not holding my breath :P )

0.5 Is the update I'm looking forward to the most though, seeing as that was when we (the community) were supposed to be getting access to the server files, well that was before toys were thrown from prams and we got them at 0.2!

While I don't agree with the suggestion, this does tap into something I've pondered for some time. More so while interacting with PvE servers. That is "how do i keep players poor but still motivated?" . I think part of the answer to that will come with time and the mod reaching completion, however there is another thing at play here and that is finding a way to break the hoarder mentality that players have.

Having read the actual petition, I see that you were not petitioning BIS to incorporate red text in BEC (as indicated by the OP's title and thread). Sorry for the mis-understanding via my 'assumptions'.

I use the normal asm.pbo in the @epochhive folder to monitor my server and the @asm to monitor my hc on the same server.

My question is: What does BIS have to do with BEC? Did they obtain the rights to the software?

BEC does not equal BattlEye. Nor does BIS equal BattlEye or BEC.

Floyd got a reaction from ZENITHOVMAN in The future of Chernarus in Arma3
I know Chernarus is perhaps an old and tired map for many. Even with its flaws, it is, imo, a beautiful map. I don't really want to start a debate on the merits of the map. I'm just curious to know, if when looking in to their crystal balls, other server admins see any future in the map.

The two biggest Chernarus based problems for Epoch as I see them are:

    "Community based task force":
The problems associated with having a community based task force porting A2 material to A3 should be evident. In spite of all the well meaning and good intentions, community projects typically have a hard time staying focused, meeting any sort of timetable and are often at the mercy of well meaning members having to drop out or unable to spend as much time as they'd like on their area of responsibility. Its going to be a slow process and whose to say that specific map updates won't take a back seat to other needs/wants?

Requirement to have additional content and future updates to it:
We all know that the vast majority of players today will not lift a finger to play their games (other than click play). Even learning about or knowing that additional content is needed goes way beyond many players mental capacity. That became all to evident when DayZ Commander closed shop. <soapbox> One would have thought it was the end of gaming. I was flabbergasted at the panic that set in when DayZ Commander was no more.I will concede that DayZ Commander, A3 Launcher and the like make things easier, but come on people... </soapbox>

Aside from requiring players to find and download, the AiA TP is a bear to download. I don't suffer from bandwith caps, but do suffer from slower download speeds than many. Three to four hours is not uncommon. Thank goodness I don't have a monthly bandwidth cap. Couple the sheer size of the file with the lack of interest and inability of many to even find the files (nevermind getting the right version) and failure begins to look certain.

Though I don't use it, Steam Workshop is great. But unless things have changed recently, even if the CUP team allowed it, I'm pretty sure the AiA TP (lite or full) exceeds the size limit allowed on the workshop.

Someone point out the flaws in my thought process. Please. I want to believe.
    (go easy on me).

Thks for the info. I've been having the same problem between a Headless Client and a dedicated server. Instant and repetitive kick. It works fine in one directory but not in the other. Both were downloaded with steamcmd. I'll try replacing the file in the directory that won't work and post back.

    **edit**
<sigh> no go. Both are the same.

    **edited edit**

Ok, just clear this issue up, I discovered my problem. I had included asm.pbo in the server files (only to remove @asm from the command line). Removing asm.pbo and running it with @asm on the server command line cured the HC kick problem. I guess because the HC and the server are pulling from the same files, the unsigned asm.pbo the client loaded got it kicked.

I'll do a work around later, but at least that problem was solved.

This is something I'm glad to see happen too. While Epoch being added to the workshop makes little difference to me (and i assume a large part of the forum) as I prefer to manage my mods manually I can see how it's going to help the (for want of a better word) average player, to whom the @modname and -thing launch parameters must be very scary. Even the ArmA3 launcher is starting to look usable and has certainly come a long way since it first was added.

    TCAdmin license...You don't need TCAdmin.
Infistar...afaik, you have to buy that if you use it anyway. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but its not offered 'free' from GSP's is it?
Windows licenses...Cost depends largely upon who you rent from (unless you buy your own dedi and rent space in a server farm, then you have to buy the O/S)
Mumble/TeamSpeak...You can put them on your dedi. Though, TS free version has slot limits, ircc. If you don't put them on your dedi, you can rent TS servers cheap enough, imo. Then you don't have to worry about the bandwidth, upkeep, etc.

    RE: the cost
For someone wanting to start out and learn the ropes of running a dedicated server, there is always the VDS option. Not the ideal thing for many games, but its a very economical way of learning the ropes without breaking the bank. In fact, for Arma3 servers, (within reason) the cost "per slot" is about the same. If you find that its something you want to pursue, or your community takes off, then you can consider renting a dedicated box that is all your own. Depending upon the company, VDS's may not be without their pitfalls. But monthly rentals won't break the bank. And if you find that its not for you or the company seems to be over-renting the space on their servers, its easy enough to bail. Should you expand with the same company, some companies will move your files and setups for you.

    Just my two cents...

Kudos on the Jedi Knight servers, PryMary. That's where I "cut my teeth" running game servers...

The problem I have with 90% of the youtubes out there is their lack of instructional and educational value. Way too many of them are done with a "here do this to get that to happen, it works for me" reference. They are either too simplified (ie dumbed down) or too complex to be of much use for me. I spend 59 minutes of the 60 minutes of my free time looking for one that (a)actually makes sense, (b)applies to the issue I'm trying to learn about, and ©doesn't have excessive hyperbole or narrator nonsense.

I would love to see some instructional videos that explain why things are put where. (Even for the most mundane of tasks.)

While many of the instructions for installation of some of the scripts are often sparse (and have the understandable language barriers), learning by failing is not without merit. I've learned a lot of basics by failing. A video on how to copy and paste isn't going to be very helpful in the long run.

tldnr: Kudo's for the willingness to contribute. If possible, in you class and/or video try to be concise and explain why.
